How to Make Blueberry Frozen Yogurt Snack Bites with Granola

Today, I am sharing how to make Blueberry Frozen Yogurt Snack Bites – basically a FroYo bite with a granola crust.

My kids are always wanting a delicious, cold treat during the summer months. It’s a hard choice as mom because I don’t mind them having an ice cream or frozen popsicle treat every once in a while, but they want a cold treat once or even twice a day. So I had to come up with a healthier solution, that was also quite frugal.

So I discovered that I could make these Blueberry Frozen Yogurt Snack Bites, a.k.a. FroYo Bites and make them with a granola crust.

Blueberry Frozen Yogurt Snack Bites

The hearty granola crust makes the effects of the treat last longer by filling in some tummy space with granola, thus they don’t need to eat as many. Plus, these ingredients provide some healthy and hearty calories for healthful play in the sun for quite a bit longer, without the physical and emotional “CRASH.”

I also love to make these because they are EASY and FRUGAL…again the theme of most of the recipes I share. 🙂 But those two things are important for a busy mom. I also like that this is healthy and ultimately, you can use whatever yogurt you want and even swap out some ingredients for different variations of healthfulness. I make them with variations all of the time, partly based on what I have on hand and partly based on how healthy I want to make them.

Frozen Yogurt is just a great summer treat alternative, not just for kids, but for adults alike. I love these treats and they are treats I don’t feel guilty indulging in!

I have just used silicone molds that I had to make fun shapes for the kids, but you can also just use an ice cube tray. If you have real young kids, you could also stick popsicle sticks into the bites to make them easier for little ones to eat.

Honestly, my kids just eat them like they are. They are usually playing in the water in the summer, so they take a quick break and have a FroYo bite and just get back in the sprinklers and get a natural rinse off if the yogurt melts a little.

Overall, I just think this is a great, everyday, alternative frozen treat!

Ingredients needed for Blueberry Frozen Yogurt FroYo Bites with Granola Crust:
*Makes 6-7 Bites

  • 1 Cup Granola
  • ¼ Cup Melted Butter or Melted Coconut Oil
  • 3.5 Ounces Blueberry Greek Yogurt (or any other flavor)
  • ½ Cup Blueberries (or other fresh for frozen berries)

Directions for Blueberry Frozen Yogurt FroYo Bites with Granola Crust:

  • In a bowl, combine the granola and melted butter. Crush the granola into smaller bits if the chunks are too large.
  • Stir and let sit for around five minutes so that the granola soaks up the butter.
  • Using a silicone mold (I used a floral shaped one for Spring) fill each hole about halfway with granola and use the back of the spoon to pack it down.
  • Stir the greek yogurt well and fill each hole the rest of the way to the top.
  • Put 2-4 blueberries on the top of each yogurt bite and press them down so they sit into the yogurt.
  • Place in the freezer for 1-3 hours or until firm.
