Cucumbers are awesome! They taste amazing, they are crisp, refreshing, easy to grow or cheap at the grocery store and just a great produce item to always have on hand. There are many health benefits to eating and drinking cucumbers (in smoothies or infused water), but they are actually really amazing natural skincare products too!

The list of benefits of using cucumbers on your skin will rival that of many professional, expensive and chemically-made skincare products. Here’s a handful of the benefits, but you can read more about skincare benefits of cucumbers HERE and HERE.

So not only does this rival and expensive, chemical-laden products, but you can buy natural versions of a cucumber facial scrub, but the price is a bit hefty.

The good news is that making your own cucumber scrub is actually super affordable because the ingredients are common and frugal. And it only takes less than 5 mins to whip up a batch of the nourishing, natural facial treatment! This recipe also has the cooling and nourishing benefits of mint and Vitamin E, which helps heal skin from scars and such – I use Vitamin E all of the time! I buy my Vitamin E oil from Vitacost as this is the cheapest price for the most pure forms. If you use this link, you will also get $10 off an order of $30 or more. It’s a great time to grab the essential oils needed like the peppermint used for this recipe and for many of our cleaning recipes.

This recipe will yield 1 1/4 cups of cucumber mint sugar body scrub, which is good for a few uses:

Ingredients needed for Cucumber and Mint Body Scrub:

Cucumber-Scrub-Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1 fresh mint leaf
  • 8 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 4 drops Vitamin E oil

How To Make Cucumber and Mint Body Scrub:

  • Wash the cucumbers. You can try the Homemade Fruit and Veggie Wash to get them really clean naturally!

1. Wet skin in the shower and apply the cucumber mint sugar scrub generously.
2. Using a circular motion, massage skin and allow the sugar granules to gently exfoliate and the olive oil to moisturize.
3. Rinse with warm water.
4. Pat dry with towel.
5. Apply your favorite skin moisturizer.

Extra Benefits by adding the Peppermint Essential Oil (BEST deal HERE):
Peppermint essential oil has a cool, minty scent and is known for soothing tired, achy muscles and improving respiratory symptoms.

Now as you are indulging in your frugal, at-home spa treatment, consider using slices of cucumbers on your eyes to reduce puffiness and then finish off your experience with a nice refreshing treat…..Cucumber, Lemon, Celery and Mint Infused Water. There are additional benefits for consuming cucumbers in it’s natural form, a smoothie or infused water as explained by Dr. Mercola HERE. And, the lemon is just another level of refreshment and health benefits as shared by Dr. Axe HERE.

To make this, just simply add any amount of cucumber, lemon or celery and mint in a large pitcher with purified water. Place in your fridge and let it “infuse” for a couple of hours. Then use this as your water source! I love to make this daily..or at least when I have the ingredients on hand, which is often.
