YUMMO is what my family says when I make this!

The Tater Tot Casserole is a kid-friendly, crowd pleasing, budget happy recipe!

It is budget happy because I only need 1 lb. of hamburger, my SOS mix to make the creamed soup base and tater tots that are quite affordable everyday at the grocery store (and I stock up my freezer on the sales!) and stretch it into a one dish dinner that is made in a 13×9 pan – those extra large family pans. This dish will feed my entire family of 7 and leave leftovers for Alex’s lunch the next day.

It also means that you can feed large groups with this as well!

Here’s what you need to make this:

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can of cream of mushroom soup (or equivalent with prepared cream of mushroom soup with SOS mix HERE)
  • 1 med. onion diced
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 1 TBSP of Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 TBSP of Soy Sauce (we prefer to use Bragg’s Liquid Aminos)
  • A few dashes of Tabasco Sauce
  • A few dashes of salt and pepper
  • 32 oz. bag of frozen tater tots
  • 16 oz. bag of frozen mixed veggies
  • 1-2 cups of cheddar cheese

How to make:

  • Brown the ground beef and rinse and drain.
  • Then put the ground beef back into the pan and sauté the diced onion until the onion is browned.
  • Prepare your SOS Cream of Mushroom soup if using.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the soup, sour cream, Worcestershire Sauce, soy sauce, Tabasco sauce, salt, pepper and mixed veggies.
  • Then stir the beef/onion mixture into the sauce.
  • Pour into a greased 13×9 baking pan.  Then top with the frozen tater tots.
  • Bake in the oven on 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • Then top with cheese and bake for another 5-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and melted and the tots begin to crisp!

Then serve warm!

Here is a printable recipe for you to print and keep in your home binder for easy access and reference!

Sounds like a dish that my family would like!

Is this meal freezer friendly? There’s only 3 of us, so I was wondering if I could split it in half, eat one now, & freeze the remaining for another night’s meal.

Thank you for the recipe! Looking forward to trying it soon!
