This is a bit of an odd Thrifty Kids Thursday! We had planned to share another kid-friendly yummy recipe with all of you. But as the day turned out….. Mom started to feel under the weather!
So what do you do in times where mom is out of commission, but still needing to be mom! In addition to past Thrifty Kids Thursday activities, a boredom, entertaining solution is FREE online games.
Today the kids piled in my bed with me and we watched a couple of movies and read a few stories. But then that still became too much for me. So I sat the kids in front of the computer for a bit so I could catch a snooze.
There are many online websites with FREE kids games, but we tend to gravitate towards these two:
- Starfall.com – this is really a very simple site and is geared toward the preschooler. But we really like it! Our son is learning letter sounds and recognition and so the games that the offer for the ABC’s are perfect.
- The other is PBSKids.org. There are some fun and interactive games for preschoolers and readers. Our personal favorite is Caillou! It teaches great lessons about helping around the house and being an important part of the family. We also like Word World, SuperWhy and Elmo’s Rhyming game.
In addition to these FREE games, we also have the Hooked On Phonics games from our cheap Phonics set that has some wonderful learning games on it!
Honestly, we do not know a lot of FREE online games as the allotted computer time is soaked up with those three sources and has been more than entertaining for them. So we just haven’t bothered searching out for more!
So…… If you also know of some great FREE online resources for kids learning games, please share in the comments! I am sure all of us mothers and fathers would appreciate having an “emergency list.”
And…. Thrifty Al did home come with pizza tonight 😉
