Time for yet another fantastic pumpkin recipe! I have so many to share with you and so little time. But I thought I would share some of our favorites.

In the past, we’ve shared classic pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. My mom makes these every year and they are my favorite Thanksgiving Day treat tradition. Well, we want to share another just as yummy version, but instead of cream cheese, it’s a maple frosting – sorta like the kind on a maple donut, but on the incredible pumpkin bar for a holiday party in your mouth!

Here’s how to make Pumpkin Maple Bars!

Pumpkin Bar Ingredients:

  • ⅓ C unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 egg, room temp
  • ½ C pumpkin puree
  • ¾ C flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ tsp salt’

Maple Frosting Ingredients:

  • 3 TBSP unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1/4 C heavy cream
  • 1 C powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 C packed dark brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Pumpkin Bar Directions:

-Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-With baking spray prep an 8×11-inch baking pan. (8×11 for thinner bars or 8×8 for thicker bars)
-Cream the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer.
-Add the pumpkin pie spice to the pumpkin puree. Stir to mix.
-Beat the pumpkin puree mixture in with the egg, add to the butter/sugar mixture.
-Mix the flour and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.
-Slowly add the flour and salt combination into wet ingredients. Blend well until just combined.
-Pour into the prepared baking pan.
-Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
-Cool completely before frosting.

Frosting Directions:

– Combine the butter, cream, and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
-Stir occasionally, until mixture just begins to boil.
-Take saucepan off the heat and stir in vanilla. Set aside.
-After cooling stir in powdered sugar.
-Spread frosting over the Pumpkin bars.
-Sprinkle chopped pecans on the top.

Enjoy this upgraded version of the classic!
