Why Paula Deen crockpot mac and cheese?

So you want to learn how to make Paula Deen’s Crockpot Mac and Cheese? That is exactly what I am going to do today! When there are likely hundreds, perhaps even thousands of recipes for homemade macaroni and cheese, why are we sharing this recipe inspired from Paula Deen?

First off, I love many versions of mac and cheese, especially baked ones. But some days call for more emergency measures when you want to have that down home cooking and don’t have time! The crockpot is a great alternative because it only takes about 10 minutes to assemble this recipe and then once assembled, you can leave it for a few hours and come back to a a hot dinner (or lunch, breakfast, snack, whatever).

So when I need a crockpot mac and cheese, this is one of my favorite go-to recipes.

Mac and Cheese has been the long standing favorite food of mine. It was my favorite as a kid and it is my favorite still as an adult. But my tastes have certainly graduated from the boxed mix. In fact, I can no longer stand macaroni and cheese from a box.  It has to be a good gourmet kind. I actually have about a 1/2 dozen macaroni and cheese recipes that I rotate through and I will very often add additional ingredients to mix these 6 recipes up even more. It’s sorta my secret food obsession, try to outdo the last Mac and Cheese I made. 🙂

Well, today, I just want to share the recipe from the master…Paula Deen. You can’t get much more down-home comfort food than her version of Mac and Cheese. Like mentioned before, what makes this recipe even better is that you just add the ingredients into a crock pot or any slow cooker and you are good to go for a creamy, cheesy, smooth, rich dinner adventure. This is Paula Deen’s original, classic, creamy recipe. I have a couple of modifications of ingredients that are easier and more frugal for me, but I will share her original recipe from Food Network.

Let’s get going on dinner tonight!

Ingredients for Paula Deen Crockpot Mac and Cheese:

pauladeen-crockpot-mac-cheese-ingredients
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (note that an 8-ounce box is not 2-cups, you will need 2 of these)
  • 4 TBSP butter, cut into pieces
  • 2.5 cups of sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 can Cheddar cheese soup (classic 10 3/4 oz)
  • 1 cup whole milk (I will also use 1/2 skim or 2% and 1/2 cup half and half as I often don’t have whole milk on hand)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard (I actually use wet mustard from the squeeze bottle)
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

How to Make Paula Deen Crockpot Mac and Cheese:

  • Cook the macaroni to package directions, but on the very al dente side (my rule is 1-minute under the lowest cooking time). Drain.
  • In a medium saucepan on low heat, combine butter and sharp Cheddar cheese until both have melted and are smooth.
  • Add all of the ingredients, except the macaroni, to the crockpot, starting with the cheese/butter mixture. Blend until smooth!

Maybe it’s just my slow cooker, but 3 hours was too long! The cheese got clumpy. I had it on low…and i should’ve stopped it at the 1 hour mark. The eggs almost became scrabbled!

Awful! After three hours the cheese gets clumpy (or maybe it’s curdled) Very disappointed

Omitting the eggs helps it not het clumpy, and I do usually cook it for less than 3 hours. I think mine is usually done at the 1 1/2-2 hour mark.

I omit the eggs and add more milk. This is a staple for football season tailgating.

Can this recipe be doubled ?

    • Cassie

Hi Donna – Possibly. It depends on how large your crockpot is. It would probably be pretty full!

I have made this recipe doubled for years. The first time I made it I followed the directions exactly and the melted butter and cheese was a giant blob. Now when I make it I melt the butter only and mix everything else together and then put into crockpot (I use a crockpot liner) and then add the pasta, mix and cook on low for the 3 hours. Perfect every time and the athletes I am feeding LOVE it!

I have tripled this recipe many times and it fills the crockpot and comes out perfect. I also always omit the eggs.

Egg-Free version? Can I just leave out the eggs for egg-allergies/snsitivities?

I’ve made this recipe numerous of times. The crock pot will overcook the noodles (3hours to al dente noodles doesn’t sound correct) omit the eggs if done in the crockpot. Add eggs if you’re baking in the oven. In my opinion, it’s better baked In an oven than crock pot

So do you use a whole 16oz box of macaroni for this recipe?

Made this recipe multiple times and with numerous experimental changes- the best so far when I omit the eggs, use heavy whipping cream in place of milk, cook macaroni for 6 minutes only, and leave in crockpot only 2 hours:) I also add a Tbsp of Chipotle chili powder and it gives it a little smoky taste that compliments a BBQ. Hope this is helpful!!

What could be more enticing than a pair of voluptuous breasts simply waiting to become touched? It’s rare to get models with such amazing busts in the adult entertainment industry, but we have put together a stunning collection of pictures on https://hotgrannyporn.com/ featuring busty actresses for your enjoyment. Large breasts are a highly sought-after feature for those who appreciate probably the most captivating aspect of a woman’s body – circular, full bosoms.
