How To Naturally Clean Nasty, Grimy Ovens with Ease Thieves Recipe

Are you sick and tired of the filth that coats the inside of the oven and will stay caked on, baked on for years? I want to share how to naturally clean nasty, grimy ovens with ease!

For several years, my oven has been a painful embarrassment to me. The inside was laden with grease and grim that was cooked on.

I had tried everything to get it clean! First, I tried the idyllic baking soda and water method (um… really?).

This is what my oven looked like after using the baking soda and water method.

Same ugly burnt brown interior. You know, I bought the oven in part for the gloriously shining cobalt blue interior. Little did I know I was setting myself up for disappointment! I quickly learned that I didn’t even want to open my oven for fear that someone might see the more rustic color glaring out at them.

My other options were the overnight built-in cleaning method (you know, turn on the volcanic setting and pray your house doesn’t burn down) or the toxic, use-a-gas-mask oven cleaner method.

What’s a girl to do?

Since I’ve been committed to getting rid of the toxins out of our house, we no longer use the various chemical-laden cleaners. Even the so-called “green” cleaners often contain just as much, if not more, of those nasty toxins . I don’t want my children around those! I don’t want ME around those.

A few years back, our family switched to Young Living’s essential oil infused Thieves Household Cleaner. It blends some of the earth’s most powerful essential oils (Rosemary, Lemon, Eucalyptus Radiata, Clove, and Cinnamon Bark) into a delicious smelling and perfectly safe cleaning concoction!

And, it costs WAY less than the popular cleaners on the market {$0.05 per ounce, as opposed to Clorox Clean up ($0.13), Green Works ($0.24) and Seventh Generation ($0.27)}.*

So, while we use Thieves Household Cleaner on all the surfaces in our home for daily cleaning, I needed something with more scrubbing power on my stove.

Enter Thieves Dishwasher detergent…

Yeah, weird idea, isn’t it? But, it has enzymes to get caked on greasy burnt on messes off your dishes! So, why not my oven? And, again, it’s perfectly safe for the family! So, what did I have to lose, other than the shame over my horrendous oven?

First, I sprinkled some of the detergent onto my stove window. Then, I sprayed it with the diluted Thieves Household Cleaner. The warm, scent of yummy goodness filled the kitchen. I waited for about 5 minutes while I dreamed of what I would cook in my clean stove (oh, please let this work!).

Then I started to scrub. Amazingly, the tenacious grunge started to budge. I noticed a bit of shine and shimmer under the brown film that had marred the window of my stove for the last three years. It had become smooth, as if it was a permanent film, never to leave us. I felt the film raise a bit, and I was able to get under it and remove it from the glass.

Admittedly, I had to repeat this process a couple of times. But, as I did so, my family trickled in and out of the kitchen oohing and ahhing. I don’t think my youngest had ever known my oven to be anything but black and burned looking on the inside. I think I saw her do a little dance. I was certainly dancing.

I called to my husband to come watch. He humored me by watching me clean away the grime. It was one of those made-for-TV movies moments. Okay, maybe not. But we all seemed to bond a little as we watched the rebirth of our perfectly shining oven!

So, I mentioned this to my friend, Jill, who immediately ordered herself some Thieves Dishwasher Powder. I think it was torture for her, as she waited for it to arrive at her door. She texted me a few times in eager anticipation of a new, clean oven. Who gets excited about cleaning an oven? People with hope, that’s who! When she finished cleaning her oven, she sent me these photos.

Cute phone case!

I feel like we are in a little club now. The SSGOCC (Safe and Smell Good Oven Cleaning Club). Who wants in?

I can’t wait to welcome you into the club! Surely, my oven isn’t the only one out there that could use this amazing transformation.

Young Living offers two ways to purchase their products: Retail and Wholesale.

Retail customers set up an account and purchase what they want when they want it at full price. It’s what we do when we shop pretty much anywhere online.

Wholesale customers also set up an account, but they get to purchase what they want when they want it at 24% off all the time! It’s like a warehouse buying membership WITHOUT the annual renewal fee. Yes, once you have an account, you are always a member, as long as you purchase at least $50 a year.

There are some other fabulous freebies and discounts to try the Thieves products. You can get the scoop HERE.

Note from Cassie

My friend Tonya shared her oven cleaning experience with the world. I have to say that I thought I was the queen of homemade cleaners, but I have never been able to master a safe, homemade oven cleaner. When I say Tonya’s oven, it was a jaw-dropping experience for me because I have tried everything!

I had been considering trying the Thieves products from Young Living for a long time because I had seen so many amazing things. But after this, I started immediately as that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I am looking forward to getting my Thieves products and doing the same and posting my before/after!

I have shared how you can get the best deals on the Young Living Essential oils, my journey and experience with Young Living and finally – how to nab these amazing Thieves products!
