Wow, check out this tutorial on How To Make a Dollhouse from Drawers. I love this project! What a great and creative way to make use of an old piece of furniture – make creative play out of it! Creative play is such a valuable thing for our children and it is being lost in today’s busy, technology world. Going back to simple toys ignites a child’s mind and creativity.
But it is hard to find simple toys! So why not make your own and save tons of money in the process of aiding your child’s development?!? It’s a GREAT idea! Our kids have an old simple wooden dollhouse that my grandparents actually made for me when I was little. It was my favorite toy as a child and it is all wooden and handmade. It is now their favorite toy too! The mini-American Girl dolls which are less than $20 (includes mini-book) are the perfect size for these types of toys too.
Anyway, this is a brilliant way to make a wooden homemade dollhouse on a dime! This project was done by Roo over at SemiProper site. She didn’t have an old dresser/side table, so she picked one up for cheap at a thrift store. She didn’t care about the condition as she wasn’t going to use it as a nightstand.
But she pulled those drawers out and fastened back to back and created this adorable two-sided wooden dollhouse! That is pure genius! What a fun project and fun toy!
