This has got to be one of the EASIEST themed treats ever! Super fun for Fall and Harvest themed parties and for pure enjoyment otherwise.

Donut Hole Acorns are also super cute!!

I am telling you, I have made these on a few occasions and everyone just swoons over them and loves the taste. It is basically a miniature chocolate donut with sprinkles. No matter the reason you make and share, they will be a hit.

They store well, travel well and sit on a plate well. They are hard to ruin! I have used melted chocolate and even frosting, although the chocolate will harden and make for a more authentic edible acorn experience.

Enough talk, let’s get down to the business of making these in a jiffy – like a couple dozen in 10 minutes. WOOT!

Ingredients and supplies needed for doughnut hole acorns:

supplies-ready--donut-hole-acorns

  • 24 glazed donut holes
  • 24 mini-pretzel sticks
  • 1/2 bag of chocolate chips or chocolate frosting
  • Chocolate sprinkles

How to make Doughnut Hole Acorns:

  • Melt the chocolate – to do this…use a double-broiler, or make it faster by melting in the microwave. Only melt for 30 seconds the first time. Stir them up well. Then microwave for another 30-seconds (or less) and then stir until fully melted. DO NOT MICROWAVE AGAIN…chocolate burns very easily in the microwave and you shouldn’t need to melt for more than one minute total. Just keep stirring until all melted.

  • Immediately dip your donut holes in the chocolate

  • Then immediately dip in sprinkles.

  • Stick the pretzel in the top and let it cool/harden.
  • Serve up and enjoy!
