The Olympics are just a few days away! We love to watch the Olympics and turn them into a learning experience. But we aso love to make it fun with themed decorations, foods and fun!
So here’s our next simple project that our kids love – making Chocolate Gold Coin Olympic Gold Medals!
Here’s what you need:
- Markers – Blue, Black, Red, Yellow and Green (the Olympic Ring colors)
- Glue stick
- Ribbon
- Hole Reinforcements
- Chocolate Gold Coins
Note about the coins: Outside of the Christmas season, these little coins can be a bit challenging to find! BUT… Walgreens does have their brand (NICE) sold in their store all of the time in the candy aisle. They are .99 for a pack of 5 coins. Three of the 5 coins are half-dollar size and two are quarter size. We only used the half-dollar coins as the quarter ones are too small.
How To Make:
Color the reinforcements in the blue, black, red, yellow and green colors. Color as many as you need.
Glue the ribbon together with a glue stick at the bottom. Hold it for about 30 seconds to create a good bond.
Then attach the gold coin to the ribbon with the glue stick and gently hold for another 30 seconds to create a good bond.
Then stick your “rings” onto the front of the gold coin in the shape of the Olympic rings as shown here:
Then let it dry for a bit longer until all of the glue has dried.
Wear and enjoy!

In my opinion, this is an amazing present for who gets the position of champion. Although many people think it is an old idea, I love it.
