We get to share a fun and different DIY project with you than usual: how to make 3D Paper Flower Basket Card.

Have you received a handmade card before? How did it make you feel? I know that I have received handmade cards and my girls have as well. They mean something extra special because you know that it takes time and effort for someone to sit down and make a special 3D hand made card.

But they are also super fun to make and a fun DIY project, a perfect and thrifty “stress reliever” type of project. I like to do paper crafts as a hobby (my stress reliever) – everything from card making to scrapbooking and more. Paper crafting is also a relatively frugal hobby to pickup. We have made paper baskets, paper lanterns, paper heart balloons and so much more. It’s just a lot of fun. You can have fun card making parties for the gals – even my teen girls love to have a girls night making these kinds of things.

Then, in the end, you end up with some nice handmade treasures. 3D cards are cheap to make, but incredibly special.

This 3D Paper Flower Basket Card is no exception! I am posting this one now since Mother’s Day is around the corner and it seems like a perfect fit for this occasion, but honestly this 3D Paper Flower Basket Card can be given to someone special for any occasion.

We are also making this super easy for you by also including the template that you can print to make the process flawless.

Kids can make these, but I love making them as an adult, so you probably will too. Just customize your colors to match an occasion. I am also showing this with burlap, but you can make the basket part out of any material, including Christmas wrapping paper at Christmas for a Christmas themed card.

Once you have the template, you can mix it up however you want for all sorts of occasions and celebrations!

How to Make 3D Paper Flower Basket Card

List of Supplies for 3D Paper Flower Basket Card:

  1. Colored Craft Papers – 5-6 different colors
  2. White paper
  3. Scissors
  4. Craft Glue
  5. Brown Burlap Fabric
  6. Pencil (optional)
  7. Card stock for actual card
  8. Template (print HERE)

Instructions for 3D Paper Flower Basket Card:

Step (1)

Print and cut out the patterns from the template.

If you’re an expert in cutting templates then you can cut the patterns without the template. The template includes 5 spiral patterns with scallop border, 5 small square patterns with fringed edge and 8 leaf patterns. Trace the patterns on the selected craft papers and cut them out nicely.

Step (2)

Take any one of the spiral patterns and roll it from its outer edge. Continue to roll towards the center. After reaching the center allow the rolled patterns to loosen up a little and then glue the rolled patterns with the center of the spiral to secure the roll. Also roll the small square fringed patterns along their intact side. Similarly prepare the rest of the items.

Step (3)

Glue the fringed rolled patterns on the center of the rolled flower patterns.

Step (4)

Take a piece of white craft paper and a brown burlap fabric piece. Cut the burlap into a basket shape, the size of the basket should be relatively smaller than the white craft paper. Glue the burlap basket pattern on the white craft paper, near to its bottom side.

Step (5)

Take any 3 rolled flowers and attach them along the top end of the basket, keeping them aligned or however you want. Attach the rest of the 2 flowers on the top of the 3 flowers.

Step (6)

Now attach the leaves between the flowers, randomly.

Step (7)

Finally, prepare the card, which should be at least 2 cm bigger from all sides than the white craft paper. Attach the white craft paper (with the flower basket) on the center of the prepared card.

Then your card is finished!

Now you can mix and match colors, basket patterns or pieces (fabric, wrapping paper, etc.) and give this handmade card to someone special. It will be FAR cheaper than buying a nice card (have you seen the cost of cards lately! YIKES!), but far more special too!

Here’s a printable version of these instructions for you:
