This is an easy, yet super special way to give a handmade card. It will be far more frugal than purchasing a fancy card, yet more special as you took the time to make it. Plus, you can mix and match colors and even make the basket out of fabric or wrapping paper to fit any occasion.

Recipe type: DIY Card
Serves: 1
Ingredients
  • Colored Craft Papers – 5-6 different colors
  • White paper
  • Scissors
  • Craft Glue
  • Brown Burlap Fabric
  • Pencil (optional)
  • Card stock for actual card
  • Template from TheThriftyCouple.com
Instructions
  1. Step (1)
  2. Print and cut out the patterns from the template. If you’re an expert in cutting templates then you can cut the patterns without the template. The template includes 5 spiral patterns with scallop border, 5 small square patterns with fringed edge and 8 leaf patterns. Trace the patterns on the selected craft papers and cut them out nicely.
  3. Step (2)
  4. Take any one of the spiral patterns and roll it from its outer edge. Continue to roll towards the center. After reaching the center allow the rolled patterns to loosen up a little and then glue the rolled patterns with the center of the spiral to secure the roll. Also roll the small square fringed patterns along their intact side. Similarly prepare the rest of the items.
  5. Step (3)
  6. Glue the fringed rolled patterns on the center of the rolled flower patterns.
  7. Step (4)
  8. Take a piece of white craft paper and a brown burlap fabric piece. Cut the burlap into a basket shape, the size of the basket should be relatively smaller than the white craft paper. Glue the burlap basket pattern on the white craft paper, near to its bottom side.
  9. Step (5)
  10. Take any 3 rolled flowers and attach them along the top end of the basket, keeping them aligned or however you want. Attach the rest of the 2 flowers on the top of the 3 flowers.
  11. Step (6)
  12. Now attach the leaves between the flowers, randomly.
  13. Step (7)
  14. Finally, prepare the card, which should be at least 2 cm bigger from all sides than the white craft paper. Attach the white craft paper (with the flower basket) on the center of the prepared card.
