90-Day Weight and Health Challenge: Why Finding Your Why is So Critical

Motivation is what gets you started.
Habit is what keeps you going.
— Jim Ryan

No matter whether you’re part of the 90-Day Weight & Health Challenge or not, we encourage you to keep reading.  This article was written for you.

Have you ever set goals whether for your health, your finances or any other area in your life?  Of course, we all have.  The subject of this post is directly related to a critical step towards meeting and achieving those goals no matter what they are.

In sum, when the going gets tough (and I promise it will), this post will be what gets you to take your next step, to not quit and to push forward.  I might even be so bold to state that this step will determine whether you meet your goals or whether you fail to achieve them.

What I’m talking about is wrapped up in one simple phrase: Finding Your Why

Why Wait Until Now to Ask This?

There’s a reason we waited until now to address this.  We assume that when you started this challenge you had the motivation to push through the first week.  There may have been moments (or more!) of struggle, but your motivation early in the challenge, especially in those first few days, probably helped push you through the pain and sluggishness you might have experienced at those various times.

What starts off easy can then become difficult in the second week and further.  You’re going to get to a place when you are rattled by that early alarm clock, asking yourself whether you want to get up.  Your self-control will waiver when your coworker brings in donuts, mentioning your favorite maple bar has yet to be unclaimed (sound a bit too specific?).  Maybe you workout at night and a conflict has come up that could be your easy excuse to allow you to skip your workout.

It’s at that moment that knowing your why is so critical.  It’s at those points of weakness, those moments of great temptation, that can determine whether the answer to any of those questions will result in another difficult step towards meeting your goal or a step back.

Now first, let me be clear.  We all struggle with those moments.  Even with where I am today, I can tell you the struggle is real and have dealt with it dozens, even hundreds of times, with these types of questions.  I readily admit that I’ve answered those doubts and temptations as well in ways that have set me back.  It’s all part of the process – just pick yourself up and push on!  This article isn’t meant to frustrate you but give you a tool to help you overcome next time, and the time after that.

But know that it will be precisely because you know your why that you will be able to push forward. When you get to those moments of decision, that why will become more important to you than the temporary joy those excuses could bring.

Find Your Why

So let me ask you a question that might be even more important than what your goal is.  The question I have for you is why have you set your goal and why do you want to achieve it?  What are the real, the true, and the deep answer(s) to those questions?

I can’t give you the answers to those questions.  I can’t even promise you that finding the answer to them will be easy.  Honestly, as you read this you might find yourself starting to work through possible reasons in your head and not able to settle on just one.

In the end, though, we encourage you to keep thinking about this until you can look in a mirror, give your answer to yourself.  You will then have the ammunition you need to answer yourself in your points of great weakness and temptation.

I’m not promising those moments will go away nor am I promising you will always make the decision that supports your why and keeps you on your path towards your goal.  But in those moments, I am promising you will have the best answer as to the reason you don’t want to give up and that you don’t want to go back to the way you were living before.

And in those moments you find yourself making a choice contrary to your weight and fitness goals, your why is the reason you will pick yourself up and get right back on track with your goals.

If you’re up to it, share your why with us below.  We would love to cheer you on as you march closer and closer towards meeting your goals!

Sometimes I wonder why I live in such a way that I am constantly working at a stressful job and I can’t save money to go somewhere and also relax. I always order CBD gummies from live rosin because I’m already so tired from my job that it’s the only thing that saves me from stress. I hope that soon I will have a lot of cool photos.
