It’s a good practice to find ways to save on each and every purchase you make. Even better is when you can combine a few of those methods for a single purchase to save even more. The best is when you can find an app that will save you even more – on top of these other ways – without doing anything after you set it up. This app does exactly that. So let’s get on with the question: What is the Paribus App?
Have you heard of the Paribus App?
If you haven’t, you need to know. If you have…are you taking advantage of it?
We talk about small changes and tweaks in your budget and lifestyle that add to monumental changes without hardly noticing in just a short time. Well, this next “tweak” is exactly that as a total no-brainer and one that can give you money back in your pockets each and every month!
We have been using the Paribus App for nearly two years now. Before I share why and my results, let me first answer the question most of us have:
Question: What is the Paribus App?
Answer: The Paribus App is a “post-purchase cash back” app. But it is not cash back in the same since as traditional cash back programs.
When you think of getting cash back on your purchases, it is through sites that offer cash back by using the link they provide before making your purchase at your favorite online stores. Using those sites, you can typically get 1-12% of your purchase back in cash. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember. It’s ALWAYS smart to use a cash back site when shopping online.
However, Paribus is not the same as these cashback sites. You don’t get a guaranteed percentage on each purchase. Instead, Paribus is a price monitoring app.
The good news is that you can use cash back sites along with Paribus, meaning double your savings.
What is a price monitoring app?
A price monitoring app will monitor and track your online purchases from dozens of major retailers. If the price drops, then Paribus sends in a claim on your behalf and retrieves the money difference for you.
To get paid the difference, after Paribus has made a claim on your behalf, then the retailer will refund the difference to the form of payment that you used for that order.
Why you want Paribus to do this for you?
Paribus knows all of the store’s price drop policies. Some stores allow you to get a difference refund within two weeks, some are 30 days and others are 90 days. Paribus knows all of these policies and even the changes in the policies that can occur over time.
Paribus also automatically tracks and does all of the work. You don’t have to do anything!
In fact, the only “hands-on” effort you need to make is initially setting up your account, which then allows Paribus to monitor the prices from your shopping.
Once a price drop has been detected, Paribus will send the claim into the retailer to request the difference in price and the retailer will refund the difference back to you.
How much money can I save?
This question will depend on the family. Why? Because we all have very different spending habits. So the savings are going to be comparable to the amount of money you spend online and where you shop online specifically.
In my experience, 40% of my online purchases from Walmart.com from the past two-years (since using this app) had a refund of some type from less than $1 – $5 each. Walmart has been the most common store that I have received price difference refunds from.
I shop online at Kohls.com, but have yet to receive a price difference refund. Kohls is my favorite store as the savings stacking options are out of this world. And my spending habits reflect that I have been buying items at the lowest possible prices at Kohls because I have yet to receive a refund from my Kohls purchases.
However, Walmart doesn’t have the same savings opportunities that a store like Kohls has, but they do offer “rollbacks” often. So when that happens and my online purchases are within the time window, I get a refund without effort!
It’s AWESOME!!
What stores can I get price difference refunds from?
I have only talked about Walmart and Kohls as these are the two stores I have the most online history with, but Paribus monitors the prices at dozens of stores online.
As of the writing of this article, this is the current list of stores that Paribus monitors the prices of.
As you can see, they are monitoring some major retailers, a few that you are likely shopping online with on a regular basis.
Could you imagine tracking all of your online purchases over a 14-day to 90-day period from these stores everyday and then making a claim at the exact moment that a price drops? It would honestly be impossible. The prices can also change multiple times per day. It wouldn’t be worth your time in the end.
However, since Paribus is on autopilot once you set it up, there is no reason to not sit back and collect a few extra dollars per month (or more!) mindlessly.
Please note, Amazon is currently on this list, but Amazon stopped their price difference refund program back in 2016. However, they remain on this list as Parbius still offers a refund service through Amazon. Now, instead of tracking the price for 30 days and filing a claim if the price drops (which happened A LOT), Paribus now tracks your Amazon packages and if your package is late, Paribus will instead automatically request a “late delivery refund” for you.
Did you miss a coupon or discount?
Price difference refunds are not the only benefit – they also tell you about missed coupons! This is an added benefit for online shopping. It totally revolutionizes your online shopping experience!
What Paribus cannot do
Paribus can only get you money back on online-only purchases made from one of the above stores. They cannot get you money back on in-store purchases, or purchases made online for pickup in-store. The item(s) have to be purchased online and shipped to you.
How is Paribus tracking my purchases?
When you set up your account, which is a secure process (see next section), you will provide your email address. Paribus uses their Paribus Receipt Fetcher program to pickup transactional data only from emails that have transaction information. This is what they use to begin the monitoring process based on the price you paid.
You will then also provide login information to the online stores you want monitored. This allows Paribus to make those claims on your behalf to get the refunds.
So, yes, we know what the next question is because we had the same one..
Is Paribus safe and secure?
According to Paribus themselves, this is what they have to say about their security:
“We understand how important your security and privacy is to you users and we factor your security into every decision we make. We work hard everyday to make Paribus as secure as possible for our users. To prevent unauthorized access, Paribus employs multilevel security mechanisms including dedicated firewalls, VPN services, intrusion prevention systems and stringent access controls on all information. Sensitive information, data, and passwords are stored using AES 256 encryption (enterprise level encryption) — the world’s leading security standard. Also, Paribus does not live in your inbox! Your mail will always remain under the supervision of your inbox provider (Google, Microsoft) and only messages that appear to be transaction related are ever pulled in by Paribus. We also regularly work with outside security professionals to ensure highest standards. Audits take place regularly on other pieces of the technical infrastructure as well.”
How much does Paribus cost?
For us, after the security question, this is the next biggest question. And the answer is awesome! It is FREE! Yes, totally FREE!
According to the Paribus FAQ section again, here’s their official response to the cost question:
“As of September 2017 Paribus is completely FREE! We believe it is important to find ways to help people save time and money, without any catches, so you get to keep 100% of your savings – no hidden fees, nothing your mother would frown at.

- Get more discounts – There tends to be more online coupons for percentage or money off than in-store coupons, thus more discounts.
