WALGREENS SHOPPING TRIP – SAVED 67%!

WALGREENSLOGOI first want to start off by saying that I have noticed that our Walgreens ads in Utah do not seem to be much like other Walgreens ads across the nation.  I saw many blogs regarding deals to be had at Walgreens, but could not find them here! Also, I keep hearing about this fabulous Childrens Activity Book filled with valuable coupons.  I have now asked 2 different Walgreens in our area and no one seems to have a clue what I am talking about – oh well!

I do think that there are more Walgreens deals that match- up across the nation than the Rite Aid deals in Utah vs. the nation this week.  I was just lamenting to ThriftyAl last night about the differences in the ads here and then I saw my friend Jessica’s blog – the Utah Deal Diva and saw how she had the same thoughts regarding the Rite Aid ad.  See her post HERE on how she did score a lot for .36 out of pocket! I plan to use my Gift Of Savings voucher on diapers during their buy 5 get 1 FREE deal – see HERE. Anyway, with all of that being said, I was still happy with our results of our Walgreens trip.  We saved 67%!

We live nearly equally between 2 different Walgreens here in Utah – there is one to the east and one to the west.  I am finding that the one to the east – Layton, UT – is a bit more coupon friendly, PLUS they seem to actually have and put out all of the different Walgreens coupons.  When I got there, I happen to find a copied 4-page handout of additional Walgreens coupons! See the picture below of the coupons I picked up at this location.

3. 4-page handout of extra coupons

The Walgreens to the west of us -Syracuse, UT- only had the Healthy Savings Book and said that there were no other coupons. Another thing that I have noted, is that other bloggers across the nation have listed and talking about coupons inside of the coupon booklets, I can’t find some of them! So I think our coupon booklets are a little different too!

Here is what we got:

We ended up with 21 items – for a total of $12.79 – 67% off!

Here is how we did it:

1 Walgreens paper plates $1.79 – sale for .99 with in ad coupon = final is .99!

6 Christmas sticker books .69 – after sale and in ad coupon = final is $2.34 for 6 or .39 each!

9 Christmas pencils .39 – after sale and in ad coupon =  final is $1.80 for 9 or .20 each!

2 Twix candy bars .89 – sale for .39, then used bogo coupon from RP 11/15 = final is .39 for 2 or .20 each!

1 Huggies wipes $2.79. Used $1/1 Walgreens coupon from the 4-page flier, makes it $1.79. Then used .50/1 SS 11/15= final is $1.29!

1 Huggies Diapers $11.99 on sale for $8.99 – $2 RR makes it $6.99. Used $2/1 found in the Parade magazine 11/29= final is $4.99!

1 Gilette Razor $9.99 on sale for $8.99 – $4 RR makes it $4.99. Used $4/1 PG 11/29 = Final is .99!

Summary – was $38.69 – after sales and coupons came down to $18.79. Received $6 back in RR for a Grand Total of $12.79! 67% total savings.

ThriftyAl actually stopped by as well to do another transaction of razors, diapers and wipes.  The RR on the diapers and razors are only 1 per transaction.  We are stocking up on diapers right now (as we have 2 in them!) and so this is a pretty decent price to stock up on.  We plan to go today and tomorrow as well – especially since there is a 2-day promotion going on where you get $5 Holiday Bucks (like RR) back when you spend $25.  We plan to combine this with the Huggies diapers and wipes, Gillette razor and the General Mills cereal to get that additional $5 back!

See the full Walgreens list with coupon match-ups HERE!

Need help with the coupon lingo (like RR) go HERE.

*Note – the candy canes accidentally got in the picture, but we got them at Target – see the post HERE!

I was able to find the coloring book a few months back at the store in Ogden. It wasn’t back near the toys and other coloring books but I found it near the front checkout. It’s smaller than I thought, only about 7X7.

HI Alison, Still no luck with the book. I have checked now at Layton, Syracuse and Clinton. They have no clue what I am talking about, and so I poke around the checkstand myself and can’t find anything. Let me know when you pick one up next and where it happens to be 🙂
