This is a fun idea! Patriotic or Fireworks Punch for the 4th of July parties and celebrations! Independence day is more fun with the foods and drinks are festive too – at least my kids think so! We made this last year and it was a total hit for the party we hosted!

We found this last year on the Oriental Trading website as they were promoting their 4th of July and patriotic themed decor.  But you can get the straws, stir sticks, etc. at so many places from Walmart, Hobby Lobby and even the dollar store.

With distinct red, white and blue layers, this patriotic drink is sure to be a hit at your Fourth of July party just like it was at ours! Our guests were quite impressed. Each ingredient is balanced on top of each other due to each beverage’s sugar content. Make sure to use a mason jar, other clear glass or clear pitcher so everyone can see the stripes the colors create. Don’t forget the garnish – we had “fireworks” straws that we bought at Hobby Lobby during one of their 50% off sales before the 4th of July and they were perfect and added to the festive effect!

The recipe has to be these types of exact beverages because the drinks will all just “mix” otherwise and you will just end up with a purple drink instead.

Here’s the ingredients needed:
• Red fruit punch or juice
• Blue Gatorade
• Diet 7UP, Diet Sprite or other diet clear soda

We didn’t say “this is a ‘healthy’ idea,” but a fun one for the 4th indeed!

Note: It is important to use a diet or sugar free soda so that it will stay on the top layer. Also, be sure to pour equal amounts of each beverage to create a colorful, layered drink.

Pour the beverage with the most sugar in the glass first (the red) then pour the beverage with the second most sugar (the blue Gatorade). If you want ice, now is the time to add it to the glass or pitcher. Finally, add the third layer of diet or sugar free soda.

Top it off with a homemade pennant stir stick or festive straw like we did!

Here’s another quick decorating idea – grab patriotic pinwheels and place in a vase with a colored wrapping confetti or tissue paper.

It was a quick, fun and festive centerpiece that I threw together real quick.  An added bow would be nice too, but this was seriously last minute! The kids could play with the pin wheels and then put them back!
