Our Weekly Plan and Menu for 3/11/13 Week and Mommy’s Little Retreat

March 12 by Cassie 1 Comment

Here’s our plan and menu for this week! It is a day late because we got home on vacation early, early yesterday morning, slept in and trying to get back in routine.  So today is really like our Monday.

So before I share our weekly plan and our menu, you can read about each of these on these links as we encourage you to do the same to save time, money and sanity:

  • Menu Planning
  • Our Weekly Planner with free download

Well, with that introduction, it is a slower week for us, other than myself getting to go on an overnight scrapbooking trip.  I get to go each March and have for the last 5-6 years.  It is pretty much one of the only times I get to scrapbook and it is my hobby.  I love it, but I don’t find opportunity to do it at home so this is a nice little retreat for me.  There is also one in October that I also go to on occasion!  I actually save most of my allowance as well as a small percentage of extra income I earn throughout the year to go into my scrapbooking fund.  It isn’t the cheapest hobby, but it is one that I truly enjoy!  You can check out our $20K Living Expenses budget HERE to see more of what I am talking about.

The kids and Alex like it too because the kids get to have daddy’s complete attention for the weekend and they go and do lots of fun things!  I am only gone from Friday night to Saturday night, so only one night!

I am not doing grocery shopping this week as we only usually shop about 2 times per month.  So that is nice as it makes for a lighter week of tasks to do.

T – stands for Thrifty – what are my thrifty goals for the week?

  • Refill Homemade Sensitive Laundry Detergent
  • Cancel Milk Delivery for this week
  • Research composting

H – stands for Home – what are some things I/we need to do around and for our home?

  • Fix kids’ bathroom sink drain
  • Fix Boys’ dresser drawer

R – stands for Relationships – a place where I write down who I need to call, send a note to or remember a birthday/event.

  • Sympathy package to Uncle
  • Thank You gifts for grandma/grandpa and aunt/uncle for caring for kids while we were on vacation last week
  • Fix Kids’ bike tires for new biking season

I – stands for Involvement – this is the part of my planner that allows me and my family to be involved in our community and church in small ways each week.

  • Pack of box of miscellaneous items for charity

F – stands for Finances – What financial tasks do we need to complete this week: (also as we continue to find our 2% cuts each month!)

  • Deposit rebate checks
  • Balance trip expenses

T – stands for To-Do’s– misc. things I need to do this week!

  • Me pack for retreat
  • Change online order for supplements
  • Make dr. appointment
  • Download NYC pictures to have printed for scrapbooking retreat (I will be scrapbooking our NYC vacation ;))

Y – stands for You – what are some things that I can do for myself to de-stress and relax for all of the hard work!

  • Gather together scrapbooking items
  • Start outdoor walks again this week (finally nice enough – it is my favorite exercise with the kids!)

Plus I have my developing shopping list and other tasks list on the right for those extras.

Here’s our planned dinner menu for the week!  But we have yet to fully stick to it one time this week – it is a bad week I guess!

Monday – Taco Bar for taco salads, tacos (hard or soft)

Tuesday – Chicken Marsala with roasted rosemary potatoes and grapefruit segments

Wednesday – Chicken, broccoli and brown rice casserole with fresh fruit

Thursday – Chicken Parmigana with spaghetti noodles, steamed veggies and fruit salad

Friday – Kids and daddy dinner out (my dinner is included in my retreat)

Saturday – Kids and daddy pizza night (I get dinner here too ;))

Sunday – Special meal with extended family members

And… no matter whether you make a menu or not, don’t forget about “dinner by 10.”

If you would like to print your own THRIFTY weekly planner, you can do so below. Alex designed it to where it requires very little ink and in fact you can print it in fast draft/grayscale to use even less ink.  But either one uses miniscule amount of ink!

Please note, if you are reading this email in our rss feed or our email newsletter, you may have to click to the post HERE to print this download.
