Our Target Shopping Trip Results With Coupon Matchups So That You Can Get the Deals Too!

January 25 by Cassie 4 Comments

We shared the results of the best Walmart shopping trip we’ve had in six years HERE – not because we had the lowest and best deals ever (even though it did include 19 FREE items!) but rather because we discovered a very special treat for our family that we haven’t been able to have in over 6 years.

Well, last week, we also hit Smiths (our Kroger store) and Target as well.  We’ve been wanting to share the results of our trip, but it has been a rough few days (since Friday of last week acutally!) and you can find out why here.

With that being said, we are sharing our trip now, and although it was last week that we did this, most of these deals are Temporary Price Cuts that last through 1/28/12 or 2/4/12 so you can still grab a number of the deals! Plus, this week, there have been TONS of new deals (so we may have to go again this week ;)) and we will share the new deals that popped up in another post hopefully this afternoon!

Here’s what we bought:

  • 3 Finish Dishwasher tabs sale for $3.59 each = $10.77.  Then use three $2.15 off coupons from the 1/1 Smart Source Insert – $6.45 = final is $4.32 for three or $1.44 each
  • 1 Large Palmolive with vitamin E sale for $2.64.  Then used $1.00/1 Target coupon from Target mailer and one .50/1 coupon – $1.50 = final is $1.14
  • 3 French’s Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce sale for $1.47 each = $4.41.  Then used three .75/1 peelie coupons – $2.25 = final is $2.16 for three or .72 each
  • 1 Target Mac and Cheese sale for .67. Then used $1.00 off  Target coupon = final is FREE
  • 1 Mott’s Applesauce 6-pack cups sale for $1.67.  Then used $1.50/1 Mott’s coupon = final is .17
  • 4 Alexia All-Natural Fries family packs on sale for $3.09 each = $12.36.  Then used four $1.00 off Target coupons and four $1.00 off manufacturer’s coupons – $8 = final is $4.36 for four bags or $1.09 each
  • 2 Skim Milk sale for $1.99 each = $3.98.  Then used two .75/1 coupons – $1.50 = final is $2.48 for two or $1.24 each
  • 6 Yoplait Trix Yogurt on clearance for $1.77 each = $10.62.  Then used three .75/2 manufacturer’s coupons – $2.25 = final is $8.37 for six or $1.39 each
  • 1 block of cheddar cheese sale for $2.49.  Then used $1.00/1 Target coupon = final is $1.49
  • 8 packages of Chicken tenders on temporary price cut for $3.99 each bag (awesome price!!) = $31.92. Then used 4 $1.50/2 Target coupons – $6 = final is $25.92 for six bags or $3.24 each bag
  • 3 6-cup packages of Target brand applesauce sale for $1.36 each = $4.08.  Then used $1.50/3 Target coupon = final is $2.58 for three packages or .86 each.

  • 4 Boxes of Kashi breakfast bars sale for $2.75 each = $11.  Then used four $1.00/1 manufacturer’s printable coupons and two .50/2 Target coupons – $6 = final is $5 for 4 boxes or $1.25 each
  • 1 package of Yoplait Granola Yogurt sale for $2.06.  Then used .75/1 Target coupon and .75/1 manufacturer’s coupon 1/8/12 GM coupon insert – $1.50 = final is .56
  • 2 packages of 4-ct. Activia yogurt sale for $2.19 each = $4.38.  Then used 2 $1.00/1 manufacturer’s coupon from the 1/15/12 Smart Source Coupon Insert and one $2.00/2 Target coupon – $4 = final is .38 for two 4-packs or .19 each.

  • 8 Happy Tots Organic Baby Food pouches sale for $1.09 each = $8.72. Then used 2 $1.00/4 Target coupons – $2 = final is $6.72 for 8 or .84 each

Summary: Our total BEFORE sales and coupons as $199.71.  AFTER the Target sales and BEFORE the coupons, our total came to $129.09.  We then used $54.12 in coupons which dropped the sales price total down to $74.97.  Just with the coupons, we saved 42% over the sale prices, with a total overall savings of 62%.

In addition, our donation item this week was a package of diapers on sale for $6.29. We then used the $1.50/1 Target coupon  = $4.79.  This will be added to the box of diapers, wipes, baby clothes and other items for our next drop-off and volunteering at our local pregnancy center (which was supposed to be yesterday… but since we are all sick…:)).

Be sure to see the customizable and printable Target shopping list with coupon matchups for this week too!

My Target has cracked down on accepting Target specific coupons. For example, they wouldn’t allow me to use 4 $1 off Alexia coupons in one transaction, even if I was buying 4 bags of onion rings. I could only use 1 coupon per transaction. Such a bummer!

We have heard that some Target’s are cracking down on that. We live within a few different Targets and it has never been an issue or come up at all for us, but I am sure it will one day. I would have said – “that’s fine….. and separated them into separate transactions one right after the other” as the coupon doesn’t state separate trip/day 😉

Where did you find the Finish tabs at? Was that a Target deal? I LOVE Finish tabs and that is the cheapest I’ve seen them ever!
