We wanted to share another Christmas article with you and start letting you get a sneak peek at our Christmas plan this year – starting with our Black Friday plan.

We will be posting our Christmas budget and our attempt at a minimalist Christmas, plus the reasons why we are deciding to be more minimalist.

But for now, we wanted to share what deals we are after this Black Friday shopping season!

We ourselves have been careful the last several years about our Black Friday shopping.  As many of you know, we just declared We’re Debt FREE earlier this year after a fast trip into loads of debt and the grueling road of getting out of it.  With a more focused mindset, and a drive to become debt-free,  Black Friday deals became about the practical for us: hard drives, video cameras, kitchen appliances and digital cameras, bed and bath necessities, etc.

We were just discussing how we have not really purchased any gifts on Black Friday for several years but the necessities we needed during our journey to become debt-free.  This is our first Black Friday shopping debt-free, and we are continuing our traditional shopping of the practical items! There just isn’t anything else that is HOT that seems to be real attractive to us or that we really need!

So with that in mind – we are looking for two things this holiday season:

  • 4-slice Stainless Steel Toaster – we have been toaster-less since our garage sale in September – our old 2-slice toaster was not sufficient for our family of 6 – the toast has been the late breakfast party guest for a while now! Our price point to beat is $50 for a nice quality toaster!
  • A new flatware set – as the garbage disposal monster has eaten all of our spoons but 2 (we have been using baby spoons to eat cereal the last several weeks) it is seriously time for an update and a matching set would be quite nice 😉 Our price point to beat is $60 for a 8 – 12 person set from a top brand.

We are looking for very high quality for a great deal – we also feel that if we are going to be minimalist, that quality is a must so that the few items we do buy last a long time! We have learned this by trial and error – you can score incredible deals on higher quality and and it lasts longer which translates into saving even more money overall!

So… that is our list and we hope we can find a great deal this holiday season. We also know that if we don’t find it this weekend that we have the holiday shopping season still ahead of us! With all of that, we will be sharing our Christmas gift budget soon too!

What deals/items are you hoping for a hot deal on?  And maybe we an help you find the deal….

I bought a 4 slice toaster for under $20 and it has lasted several years feeding my family of 8.

I’m sorry I didn’t finish my first post! It was just the luck of the toaster that I got one that lasted!
