These are AMAZING – not healthy – but AMAZING.
No-Bake Oreo Cookie Truffles!
Yes, the name alone will cause you to expand a couple of inches….. but it might just be worth it!
In all seriousness, this has to be an Every.Once.In.a.While.Treat.
One that is for special occasions or celebrations, and when that time comes, you know you will be celebrating!
This recipe is so easy, takes only 3 ingredients and little time! It is directly from the Kraft site.
Here we go!
Ingredients needed:
- 36 OREO Cookies crushed – do reserve the 2 “cookie” parts (so 2 tops and 2 bottoms) to crush and top the truffles with
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened
- 16 oz. of semi-sweet melting chocolate. You can use chips, almond bark or other melting chocolate. White chocolate is awesome too and makes them more OREO like!
How to make:
- Crush the cookies in a food processor (don’t forget to reserve some crumbs of the cookie part and set aside)
- Then mix cream cheese and with cookie crumbs until blended.
- Form into into 48 (1-inch) balls just with your clean hands
- Melt your chocolate. You can either melt over medium heat on the stove-top with a double broiler (my preferred method) or you can microwave for 30 second – 1 minute intervals, stirring in between, until melted. *As a side note, I like to add a bit of cooking wax to the melted chocolate and let this melt as well – it makes the finish on the truffles shiny!
- Then dip in melted chocolate
- Place on waxed paper-covered rimmed baking sheet. Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.
- Then refrigerate for at least 1-hour or until ready to serve!
That’s it!!
Here’s some fun variations and ideas. I used white chocolate drizzle on top, but the I think I will do the cookie crumbs on top next time like they do on the Kraft site.
A sample from Kraft with the cookie crumbs on top!
I also love the idea of dipping in white chocolate with the chocolate OREO crumbs on top! It will look more like an over-grown, exploding OREO! Also, you can dye to white chocolate pink or red for Valentine’s Day or Christmas. When I serve them, I will put them in the mini muffin tins with the holiday or party theme we are celebrating!
What fun variations or ideas do you have?

These are the best treats in the world for students! It’s also a great post-game treat for student athletes.
I do get frustrated with the dipping process, though. Either Ihe balls want to fall apart while I’m dipping, or the chocolate does not cover the bottom of the ball as it cooled on the tray…. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix these issues? I loved making them, but stopped after a couple of times due to frustration.

After rolling my truffles, I put them on a parchment lined cookie sheet and covered it with Saran Wrap. I refrigerated them for an hr or more so they were cold and solid before dipping. Then I put them on a lean parchment lined cookie sheet to go back into the fridge until I needed them! Hope this helps! 🙂
