My trick on how I fill my home with good scents in SECONDS, without toxic products

As you know, I do like essential oils and have used them in my home for cleaning for 12+ years. In fact, many of my homemade cleaning recipes have the option to include essential oils for the natural bacteria fighting effects of essential oils.

I am not brand loyal, I have used many brands and so I just use whatever I have on hand at the moment for my cleaning recipes.

Well, I do have homemade air fresheners and I also diffuse oils into the air using an essential oil diffuser. But last winter, when we would have 15 minutes or less notification that someone was stopping by, I came up with all of these “quick tricks” to spruce my home up on a moment’s notice.

One of those was this trick to fill my home with good natural scents in seconds! Yes, it uses essential oils and no toxic candles, can sprays or melts. Just the aromatherapeutic benefit of essential oils, with the wonderful side benefit of making my home smell good and “festive” for the season.

It’s simple, I grab a small pot of water in the stove and put it to a low simmer. I add several drops of my desired essential oil(s) at the time and VIOLA….my home smells amazing in a few minutes.

It’s amazing just how fast the scent spreads with a pot full of essential oil water. Much faster than a diffuser (as this is made for longer running times) and far better than the alternatives.

What makes this even more fun is being able to customize scents on a whim based on the season.

This was last winter, around Christmas Time, was when I discovered this trick in a rush to quickly spruce up the house for a friend that called and said she was near and wanted to stop by.

So…I found that peppermint and cinnamon are WONDERFUL during this time! Citrus scents are great all year round, lavender, rose and other florals are so nice in the spring and summer and I also love the herbs like rosemary in the summer.

This trick has saved me tons of money on candles, wax melts (and the special tool needed to melt them) and I am not using anything toxic.

Where do I get my essential oils?

That’s a great question! Essential oils do fight nicely in my tight budget because each 15ml bottle has around 300 drops of oil. That’s a lot of uses considering most uses require 2-5 drops.

What I like to do is stock-up on the top 7 oils at an amazing price – less than $50 for all of them! Then I have these for ALL of my cleaning recipes, diffusing, using in baths and foot soaks, and for pretty much any other use where you would wish to use essential oils.

I have shown in this post HERE on

how I get the top 7 essential oils for less than $50!

Amazon will also have some great deals that you can see HERE.

It’s a great trick to have up your sleeve! I’d love to hear if you have done this and what scents or combinations are your favorite?
