I love my SOS mix- it really makes many things in the kitchen come together for a delicious meal! We all have liked Lasagna Casserole and so now I made my own creamy version with SOS mix!

To make this particular meal super easy and slick is to have pre-cooked ground beef (packed in 1lb. packs) like we do for our chicken and sausage too.  Honestly, if I have time, I will cook from the raw form, but if I am short on time, I grab a pre-cooked one! Also, having your SOS mix pre-made for so many of your meal needs.

SOS mix is a simple quick mix to create and store in your pantry that will replace all canned creamed soups, gravies, sauces and cheese sauces.  We talk about it A LOT on our site because we use it many times per week!

So now on with this time-saving, money-saving, Italian comfort food!

Here’s the ingredients needed:

  • 1 lb. ground beef cooked, drained and rinsed (you can make this vegetarian too!)
  • 1 16oz. package of any shape pasta (wheat and gluten-free also work well!)
  • 1 and 1/4 cup of prepared SOS mix (to make: use 1/3 cup of dry mix and 1 1/4 cups of water and whisk on the stovetop on medium heat until blended and thick)
  • 2-3 sm. cans of tomato sauce with Italian, Basil, Oregano spices or 1 jar of pasta sauce
  • 1 16oz. container of cottage cheese (FAR cheaper than Ricotta)
  • 2 Cups of shredded mozzarella cheese

These are the base ingredients, you can also have add-ins based on what you have on hand or to make it more gourmet!

  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Carrot Shreds
  • Bell pepper
  • Zucchini
  • Bread Crumbs

Here’s how to make it:

  • Saute’ the onions, garlic and other veggies in butter or coconut oil on the stovetop until tender
  • Cook your pasta (See our recommendations for cooking pasta to be healthier HERE)
  • *Prepare your 1 1/4 cup of SOS mix (again, 1/3 cup of dry mix whisked into 1 1/4 cup of water in a saucepan and cooked on med. until thicker and creamy)
  • In a separate bowl, mix the cottage cheese and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese.
  • Then add the cooked SOS mix to the cheese mixture and mix until well blended and any of the optional add-ins

My family loves this casserole! It is down home Italian Comfort Food to the Max!

*Also, please note, if you did not want to use SOS mix or do not have any on hand, you can also substitute with 1 cup of sour cream mixed with Italian seasonings or Basil/Oregano.

Here’s a printable recipe for you to put into your home binder!  AND details on the Home Binder with FREE downloads are HERE.
