We haven’t posted a shopping trip in a couple of weeks because we honestly have not gone for a couple of weeks! As mentioned earlier – we had a crazy couple of weeks! Anyway, we are getting back to normal life and normal shopping!

So Thrifty Al just ran to our local Kroger affiliate (Smiths) real quick tonight to grab the hot items we wanted this week!

Here’s a picture of the shopping trip!

Smiths Trip June 7Here’s a breakdown of what he bought!

  • 2 Packages of Tyson Chicken Marked down to $1.51 and $1.61 each = $3.12
  • 1 Cantaloupe sale for $1.50 = $1.50
  • 1 Dozen eggs sale for .99 = .99
  • 1 loaf of bread sale for sale for $1.25 = $1.25
  • 1 Welch’s Juice sale for $2.99 – $2 coupon = .99
  • 4 Athenos Hummus sale for $1.50 each = $6.00. Then used 2 BOGO FREE coupons = $3.00 for 4 or .75 each!
  • 4 Weight Watchers Yogurt sale for .50 each = $2.00. Then used 2 BOGO FREE catalina coupons from a previous transaction – $1.00 = final is $1.00 for 4 or .25 each!
  • 5 Bags Rold Gold pretzels sale for $1.98 each = $9.90. Then used 5 .55/1 SS 5/2 – $2.75 = final is $7.15 for 5 or $1.43 each!

Summary: Total BEFORE coupons but AFTER the sale prices = $27.75. Thrifty Al then used $9.75 in coupons = final total after all discounts is $19.00!! He saved over 60%!!

Psst….. I am posting this as he started slaving away in the kitchen after shopping – he makes the best meatloaf, so it is his job tonight! I would be more thrilled about him making dinner normally – except in exchange, I have about 4 loads of laundry to fold and put away instead! So while your are reading this….. I am rounding up kids for the “Laundry Put Away Races!”

My husband and son both work for Kroger. As employees we get an addt’l %10 off Kroger brand items. It’s worth spending the extra time shopping for the deals. And we know when all the mark downs are happening.

Looks like a great shopping trip! (Except the savings math looks wrong — it looks more like 40% to me. :))

40% off the sale prices over 60% total – even the receipt says so 😉 Thank goodness for coupons for the extra savings!
