55-dollar-costco-deal-essentially-means-free

UPDATE: We wanted to remind you that you only have a couple more days to get this Costco deal, and so we didn’t want you to miss out in case you forgot or hadn’t seen it yet.

We did this exact deal two and a half years ago and it has been one of the best money decisions we have made. The last time this was offered was in the beginning of February of this year, so it has been over 6 months.

Honestly, we waited FOREVER before getting a membership to Costco as we just weren’t sure it would be worth it.

We live close to a Sam’s Club and we debated every year whether or not we are going to get a membership because Costco was 30 minutes away.  Ultimately, we decided to get this Costco deal (2.5 years ago) and have received so many benefits from it that we have renewed it every year since! We LOVE it!

In fact, this past week, we hit a great organic foods sale that they had and were able to stock-up on our kids’ favorite organic snacks and healthier alternatives for a fraction of the price from places like Whole Foods.  Costco has a GREAT selection of healthier foods, already priced lower per unit due to the bulk purchasing, but then they will have coupon deals and specials in addition to the already low prices.

Basically, we buy some of our produce (as the prices are good) and then stock-up on the coupon/sale items that month and overall, it has been a very beneficial  route for our budget.

We also heard from hundreds of you how much you love your Costco membership and prefer it over Sam’s Club.

Well, we thought we would let you know about this not-to-miss deal!

Why?  Because with this deal from the group buying site Living Social, you will receive many freebies!

The membership is normally $55 if you walked into Costco today.

But on Living Social, you will pay $55 for an annual membership and receive all of this too! You can buy up to 3 memberships as a gift as well!

What this deal is that you spend $55 and here’s what you get:

  • A One-Year Costco Membership ($40 value)
  • A $20 Costco Cash card
  • $30.97 in free food and product vouchers. All new members will receive a pack of bonus coupons (a $30.97 value), good for a free Kirkland Signature™ 30 pack of toilet paper, a free rotisserie chicken, a free apple pie.
  • You will also receive three months of free identity protection service brought to you by Identity Guard® (a $40.47 value).
  •  Note: these coupons expire on March 31, 2015.  We just redeemed them all the first time we went to not have to worry about expiration dates!

Total value of what you are getting for $55 is $146.44.  But between the $20 gift card and the $30 in free food and toilet paper, this alone nearly pays for your membership! Awesome!

Plus – we were excited to find out two years ago (when we purchased this exact deal) that we were able to upgrade to the executive membership (in store when we redeemed out voucher) and still received all our freebies!  The executive membership gives you money back on every purchase and will pay you back at the end of the year if you didn’t get the value of the upgrade price.  We love it!

Head to the Living Social site HERE to get your Costco Membership for the next 6-days only

Please note: this deal is valid nationwide, it’s just hosted under a few cities on the site.  But there are no location restrictions. The fine print states: “To activate your Costco membership you must bring the printed Costco Membership Activation Certificate email or your printed confirmation page to your local Costco location. Valid at US Costco locations, not valid in Puerto Rico.”  Also, you need to get into Costco by December 15, 2014, to activate your 1-year membership. It will not start until you activate it. Also, this is NOT for renewals…only new memberships.

So what’s the verdict…..Will you be joining?  If so, it looks like now is the right time!

Sounded a little to good to be true and then I got down to “only good for new members, not for renewals.” So much for that hope……………

This is perfect! My fiancé and I had been talking about joining Cosco vs Sam’s for years. Now that our Sam’s Club membership has expired, we can easily and much more beneficially join. On another note, my sister-in-law and I were just talking about how great it would be to have a Cosco membership! This would be a perfect gift for her birthday this month! Thank you so much for all of your awesome shares!!

Woohoo! I didn’t take advantage of this the last time around and regretted it. So glad it came back around. Thanks so much for sharing!
Also, I was at a national conference for crisis pregnancy center workers last week and ran into some folks from the Morning Center, when I mentioned I had heard of it before from here the lady knew exactly who you were, apparently you grew up together. Just thought I would pass that along 🙂 Thanks for all you do!

      Hi Shirlann,

I think there is a chance actually. Check the livingsocial Canada site as I think that they may be offering one there too. Let me know as many are asking! I only have a US account, and I am not sure how to register on the Canada side without a Canadian address to even check.

I have checked on the costco.ca site for Ontario and don’t see anything to suggest this offer is valid in Canada!
