Here are the two ways to enter. Make sure to leave a comment for each one as each one is a separate entry.
- This is the “mandatory” entry. We love hearing from each of you and your tips. So, this week we want to know your Fall tips.
- For your next entry, leave a second comment if you are a “liker” of The Thrifty Couple on Facebook. Its not too late if you’re not a liker yet, just go to our page and click ‘Like’. We also post extra deals and information on Facebook for our readers that you will not find on the site here.

I am a visual person, so as soon as fall comes around I place things around that remind of it. Like a big bowl of apples. I also love candles that smell like Fall! They make me so happy and calm!

One of our favorite fall things to do is to go to the local “pumpkin patch” and each child gets to pick their own mini pumpkin and help pick out the one big pumpkin that we will carve as a family!

My favorite “fall” (maybe more like winter) recipe is for Apple Cider. The recipe is as follows: Apple Cider (Treetop, or any other big jug you can buy at the grocery store-make sure it’s Apple CIDER, not juice), a few sticks of cinnamon, a few bay leaves, and then the final (secret) ingredient – a candy cane(the original peppermint kind only!)! Put all the ingredients into a crock pot – the candy cane will melt and give it a great flavor!! It’s also a great ice-breaker guessing game. Soooo delicious.

I make sure all the summer clothes are clean before packing them up for the winter/fall.

To get ready for fall, I like to get out the fall candles…there is nothing like cleaning house on Saturday morning with the new fall breeze coming through the windows and then topping off the day with the yummy smells of fall…I love my harvest and pumpkin candles!

We like to have bonfires. My teens each invite a few friends over and hubby and I join them around the fire. It’s a fun way to spend time with our children and their friends, and hear what’s going on in their lives that week.

Take a look in your backyard and identify one thing you find interesting. It could be anything such as an insect, a bird or a garden flower, etc… Then go back online and use the Google search engine to find out all you can about it. You’ll just be amazed at what you can learn!

Best Fall Tip: Start planning for Christmas NOW. If you have a list of all the people you need to get gifts for, a price range, and gift ideas, you will have plenty of time to snag a great deal and a great gift. Plus, you won’t go over your budget.

My Fall tip is to enjoy the last moments of your summer garden and not rush the clean up. Let the garden absorb back what has been growing.

This is the time of year we like to camp more, do more hiking, and the weened of the time change, we have a campout with roasted hotdogs, marshmellows and smores. We do this all in our backyard…nice fun time, without too much of loss of comfort (mainly bathrooms are very close…lol).

Fall is our favorite season. Now that the weather isn’t so hot, we love to spend alot of time outside. Our favorite thing to do as a family is go to a local pumpkin patch and paint pumpkins, enjoy the animals they have,go on a hayride, walk thru the corn maze then snuggle up with a blanket near the campfire and roast marshmallows!!! And to top it off it is super cheap activity that starts during the afternoon and continues late into the evening!!

I love fall! College football is starting, on a sunny day the outdoor pictures turn out amazing, and we go pumpkin patch “hopping”, where fresh apple cider is the best treat. Then there is Halloween 🙂
