We have told you this story before, but it has been a long while! We have very fond memories of Waffle House. We do not have any here in where we live, in fact, not even close to us! But looks like they are nearly everywhere else! Whenever we think of Waffle House we get the “warm and fuzzies.” Why? ….. Well, I guess a quick little story is in order!
In the summer of 2009 we took a wonderful 2-week family vacation to the S.E. part of the country ( 1-week in GA and 1-week in TN). It was one of our most memorable vacations and we did it as thriftily as we felt possible (we will be sharing more on this as we continue our travel series). One thing we did was take red-eye flights from Salt Lake City, UT to Atlanta, GA as the tickets were significantly cheaper (times 5 tickets – baby didn’t need a ticket!).
Well, as a result of the red-eye flight, we literally had red-eyes, exhausted – no sleep for mommy and daddy, irritable, grouchy and we arrived at 6 am and it was already in the dead of heat already with added humidity! We were so tired and wanted to check into our condo, but we had to wait until 3:00 pm. That was torture!!
We were trying to figure out what to do for the next several hours and just wanted to find a place to sleep and relax. As we were driving down the road, Wafflehouse, after Wafflehouse after Wafflehouse and….. they were open…. and had “specials.” We pulled in and relaxed, took our time, ate and put our heads on the table for a while – it was a light at the end of the tunnel that day.
