This did not work for me. The store manager said that I cannot use coupons on sale items because my coupon said “not valid with any other offer”

      Hi Laura,

What was the other offer? Their sale price? I am sure it was just a confused cashier that was in shock you would get something for free 🙂 “Any other offer” would be if you tried to use 2 manufacturer’s coupons or two store coupons together. Using a manufacturer coupon with a sale is not any different than you paying for the item with your own money. The store gets reimbursed on the coupon, so when you use a manufacturer coupon, it is like cash that you are using to pay for the item. They still get their money either way – in this case, it is just the manufacturer giving it to them.

With all that being said, you could try to explain that to them in the future, but it may or may not help if they do not have any understanding of coupons – especially at a store like Staples that probably do not see coupons often. Ultimately if it is up to them.
