You can easily create a DIY faux fireplace mantle with wardrobe cardboard boxes. What a fantastic, frugal, fun and festive idea! Yes, it is fake, but it adds some great merry decor and atmosphere around your home. So many want a fireplace for their Christmas festivities, but now you can make one on a dime!

DIY Faux Fireplace Mantle Made From Wardrobe Cardboard Boxes

If you don’t have a fireplace and you don’t want to miss out on the nostalgia and festivities surrounding a fireplace and a mantle to hang the stockings during the Christmas season, considering making one out of paper and cardboard boxes. Can you imagine what surprise and fun it would be for the Christmas season?

I have always wanted a fireplace and that desire is the strongest during the Christmas season. We finally have one now (after years of hard work and paying off debt) and I love it! But I wish I would have known about this cool idea for the many years we didn’t have one.

It’s really just a brilliant and fun DIY project. It’s also quite simple and could be done pretty quickly, perhaps in an afternoon. Then you can hang those “stockings with care” around the fireplace and off the fireplace mantle. You can store it for future use too…or just toss and make a new one each year because of how simple it is.

How to make a DIY faux fireplace mantle from wardrobe cardboard boxes

This DIY faux fireplace mantle from wardrobe cardboard boxes was shared with us by our friend, Chelsea, from The Crafter Life has put together the full tutorial HERE. She shows what she has done and how you can do it too! She breaks the steps down step-by-step so that you can copy what she did to re-create this for your home.

She’s done some cute and simple decorations, but you can decorate it with lights and all kinds of festive decor. The sky is the limit.

Will it hold the weight of a “full” stocking?

The stockings are hanging with care, but you may be wondering if the weight of it could support a “full stocking?”

I probably wouldn’t trust holding a full stocking on this diy faux fireplace mantle.

If it is any consolation, we now have a real fireplace and mantle. We hang the empty stockings all season, but come Christmas, we can’t even hang them on the real fireplace mantle still because the “heavy duty” stocking holders we have will still not hold them. So you’d have the same problem with a real fireplace mantle.

However, the festivity of the season is still there, along with the amazement of Christmas.

We have also shared a video that lays out the quick summary steps to get an idea of how easy it is, but you will want to visit her site for the full details and step-by-step instructions.

Would you make something like this for your Christmas celebration?
