Clear Out The Clutter Challenge: Bathroom Closet

So we have been working on our Clear Out The Clutter Challenge that Money Saving Mom has been organizing! Today’s project was clearing out the closet in one of the bathrooms! I love this closet, it houses our toiletry, healthcare, baby, samples and hotel size toiletry items for overnight guests and misc. (like humidifiers, bath tub pillows, etc.). It is a nice big closet, but it certainly can also mean a great place to “stash” the unknown! Well, today it became “known.” We seem to have to reorganize this closet every year or so.  We start off with the best of intentions: a hairthingy bin, a first aid bin, a baby supplies bin, manicure bin, guest supplies bin, etc.  Then, over time, it all kinda mixes together somehow!

So here is what it looked like BEFORE:

We were able to reorganize everything into their right bins! PLUS had plenty of room to spare.  We have a 4 shelf 5 foot system in our storage in the basement dedicated to the toiletry items, but many unopened things migrated upstairs, that went back into storage until really needed (hopefully!). We also found many things to donate, new toothpastes, toiletry bags, lotions and other misc. We did end up throwing out mostly the older first aid items and medicines!

I was also so motivated, that I cleaned out underneath the sink too.  It was mostly cleaning products and another box of mixed hair things, band-aids, unopened toothbrushes, mouthwash – you know…. bathroom things! Anyway, everything now has a home and will hopefully stay put for a while!

So here is the bathroom closet AFTER:

I was going to work on the coat closet, and in fact had my space bags ready to go…… but this Utah weather keeps teasing us! We woke up to snow AGAIN today.  Fortunately, it melted by mid-afternoon and did not stick around as long as the last time! Maybe coat closet next …………
