#4 – Grinch Hot Cocoa, a.k.a. Mint Hot Chocolate
Now that we have covered dry bulk hot cocoa mix, white hot chocolate with peppermint and classic creamy hot chocolate, we want to share a fun themed hot chocolate that our kids love to have during the Christmas season. That is Grinch Hot Cocoa or in other words Mint Hot Chocolate.
We have a daughter that loves everything mint. Mint gum, mint ice cream, mint candies, chocolate mint, mint anything and everything. So this Grinch Hot Cocoa is her favorite because it is a mint hot chocolate. We ended up calling it “grinch” because we made it with green food coloring to distinguish between our white or peppermint hot chocolate and it totally looked like something the Grinch would drink.

If you want to make this for a party or gathering, one thing we do is to coat the cup in red sugar around the rim. We shared how to rim glasses with sugar or candy for an amazing drink presentation. So you will want to check out the article title Easy Trick with Sugar or Crushed Candy. It would actually be quite a yummy and unique presentation for any of your hot chocolate drinks. I have crushed candy canes and rimmed glasses for the peppermint white hot chocolate before. It is amazing.
Sorry for the delicious bunny trail. I just get excited when I start talking about hot chocolate, especially because I get to share my personal favorite hot chocolate for adults next!
#5 – Dairy-Free, Sugar-Free, Super Foods Hot Cocoa
This next recipe can really be for anyone, but I say adults because I have found that when I get older, my body cannot handle sugar well, so you may be in the same boat. The sugar adds a bunch of weight that I don’t want and can’t get rid of. I personally choose not to drink sugar and haven’t for years. Don’t think that I have all of the willpower in the world to resist sugar…I said I choose not to “drink” sugar. However, I still indulge in treats here and there, usually in the form of cookies, doughnuts, or brownies. 🙂
But I also love a good cup of hot chocolate too! So I created a recipe a few years ago for a healthy hot chocolate. It is not only healthy hot chocolate, it is actually a super foods hot chocolate. Many adults I have shared this with have fallen in love because they too also stopped drinking hot chocolate for the sugar and calories. But my kids also love this too, so although I let them have hot chocolate here and there, this is my winter daily go-to hot chocolate.
It is dairy-free and sugar-free and made with Cacao powder – the super foods healthy chocolate alternative.
So if you don’t like drinking sugar for the empty calories, then you will love this version. Enjoy hot chocolate, avoid the calories and reap the health benefits of cacao.
Would you have guessed that you would have come across an article on BEST hot chocolate recipes and leave with a super healthy excuse and reason to drink it regularly? That is some of my favorite content to find online. So enjoy!
