We hope you are excited for this next recipe… why? Because it could totally change your BBQing experience! The BBQ Sauce makes all of the difference to a successful BBQ meal or not – the sauce literally makes or breaks it (not to mention the actually grilling).
Well, we enjoy BBQ as much as the next family – it’s an American tradition and our grill is running much of the summer because it’s cheaper, cooler and easier way to cook.
So we want to share our signature family favorite Homemade BBQ Sauce recipe with you that we have dubbed our own version of Texas BBQ Sauce.
Whether you want to make your own to save money, control ingredients or just get an amazing homemade gourmet flavor – all of that is wrapped up into this nice BBQ sauce package!
Let’s not delay in sharing anymore, because it’s making my mouth water and it’s not even dinner time yet!
Here’s the ingredients needed for Homemade Texas BBQ Sauce Recipe:
- 1/2 TBSP paprika
- 2 TSp. Black Pepper
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 2 TBSP dried onion
- 2 TBSP minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/3 c. vinegar
- 3 TBSP Worcestershire
- 2 TBSP brown sugar
For healthier swaps – we use an organic brown sugar or coconut sugar. Also, the only other ingredient that can have high sugar is the ketchup. Use a non-high fructose corn syrup ketchup or even Trader Joe’s ketchup because it is one of the lowest sugar (no high fructose corn syrup) and cheap ketchups that we have found. With those two swaps, this becomes quite a healthy concoction! TheWorcestershire sauce contains 0 calories, 0 fat, 1 carb and less than 1 g of sugar. It does have 65 mg of sodium… pretty much the only thing, but it’s not that much!
How to make homemade BBQ sauce:
- First, just simply mix all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- In a separate, larger bowl, mix the wet ingredients together with a whisk or fork.
- Then just dump the mixed dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix with a whisk or fork.
- This can be used right away, or stored in the fridge for quite some time. All of the ingredients are a longer term storage condiment/spice and so it should last for at least a few weeks in the fridge. It doesn’t last longer than this in ours because we eat it before we reach that point, but it will probably last longer.
- You should end up with about 2 cups worth of sauce!
Yummy – this BBQ Sauce has BIG taste and will make for the best BBQ experience! I also use it on indoor grilling and recipes all of the time because it is so good!
