It’s day #8 of the 30-day organization challenge. Let me be honest. This day was tough for me. I had a very busy day starting at 5:30 a.m. and leaving with all 5 kids at 8:45 a.m. and not getting back until late afternoon, jumping right into dinner prep. Then I was so tired after dinner that I thought “how am I going to get today’s challenge done?”
Well, I said I am just going to start and lo and behold, it became a very refreshing, yet encouraging part of my day! It really does not take long to re-organize the drawers and get them back in order. I was able to organize half my kitchen drawers in no time and I was so, so happy! I even had time to have a kid-themed dance party, stories and giggles….. all after dinner and before bedtime.
So, I want to say this to encourage you – there’s just going to be a day that seems so daunting; today was mine. I wanted to throw in the towel for just today, promised myself I would at least get started and I finished instead!
Day #8 Challenge – Organize Half the Kitchen Drawers
Even though I was exhausted starting and not motivated at the beginning, I did snap before pictures and was happy to snap after pictures for you.
For the first half of the drawers I chose today, I have a series of drawers right on top of each other and they are the most used drawers. So I started with these.

Today’s challenge is now finished and it is AWESOME!! So glad I did it, even when I didn’t want to!

The only challenging thing for me has been the paperwork (Day 2, 3?). I just moved into a new place, so everything is organized – now. It meant a lot of throwing away, giving away, and selling. I merged a two bedroom apartment with a three bedroom home into a three bedroom apartment. You’d think I would have everything; however, the layout being very different, along with my physical challenges, meant I had to purchase a new dining room set… I still don’t have enough bookshelves.
That all aside, I though I’d thought I’d be overwhelmed with these daily challenges. I was, just not right now when going through them because I’ve already done it. Each day I open my new challenge task and breath a huge sigh of relief.
Letting go of anything has always been difficult for me, so I applaud these challenges to organization and sanity. Thank you, Thrifty Couple, for all you do… I remember what it was like being a single mom, working full time and going to school full time – without a car… The two of you are awesome and I welcome the helps and tips and ongoing life issue workouts.
Bravo!

Thank you Suzanne! We are encouraged to hear how others are doing and the progress you are making, even with your circumstance. Paperwork from day #2 and has been the most challenging for most. But once that is set aside and done, it is a great feeling and so easy to move on too! Thank you and have a wonderful day!
