Welcome to day #9 of the 30-day organization challenge.   I feel like I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel! Our kitchens are just about organized.  A couple of more days and we can move on with the rest of the house with a nicely organized kitchen behind us!

Today’s challenge is the second half of yesterday’s challenge.

Day #9 Challenge – Organize the Second Half the Kitchen Drawers

With the second half, I chose to deal with the dreaded junk drawer in this batch! I also have a misc. kitchen supplies drawer.  Both can get out of hand pretty easily.

Again, I will just take you around my kitchen! I did 5 drawers today, unlike 3 yesterday, however, a couple were literally a minute or two, so quite simple.

I am happy to accept suggestions on this one! It is a wide, flat, weird drawer. I moved the teas to the top cupboard from a couple of days ago, then I have three gallon ziplocs – one for lose tea bags, hot chocolates, etc., another for spice packets, seasoning packets, etc., and a third for baking chocolates, pieces, etc.  I also then have bread baggies, cheese cloth and other miscellaneous, random items.

Miscellaneous Kitchen Stuff Drawer After – not super totally happy with it, but it’s at least better! I might try to find some more permanent solutions for this drawer later.

Finally, the grand daddy drawer of them all…. the dreaded JUNK DRAWER before!

And the beautiful organized finish to this crazy drawer! I love seeing the after’s on junk drawers.  It makes such a huge difference!

Now guess what?  There are only two more spots left in the kitchen the rest of this work week and then we are ready to move on to another area! I can’t wait to get out of the kitchen, but so happy to see the drawers and cupboards again!

How is your challenge going? What tips do you have for a more organized kitchen?

If I can just add my 2-cents, I have junk drawer issues also, but one thing I found I like is that I get tired of drinking the same flavor tea, so I cut open a tea box and placed about 5 bags from each flavor and keep that box easily accessible and then the rest of those boxes up higher and then refill as needed. Your drawers look great now.

For any of my junk drawers, I’ve used all different sizes of cardboard boxes (shoe boxes, cereal boxes, etc.) to serve as dividers. You just cut the box down to the depth of your drawer and fit them into your drawer like a puzzle. You can even spray paint or cover them with contact paper to make them prettier.

I learned from my Mother, a great method for organizing my worst kitchen drawer. Remove everything from the drawer and place the contents into a seldom used pan or box. As I need (use) something from the box, return it to the drawer. After a couple weeks, move the pan/box to an out of sight (but easy to access) spot. Continue to retrieve items as needed, and add to the drawer. At the end of 6 months, I moved the pan to an even more remote location, and at the end of a year, donate the remaining items. This works best in my home for the drawer with the spatulas and miscellaneous what-nots that we can’t live without, but seldom ever use. Thanks for being so vulnerable as to let so many peek into your cupboards!

I am so far behind, already.
our son has gone through one round of Chemo because of colon cancer that had spread through the abdominal cavity. After testing, they found three suspicious spots on his liver! Means more testing!

    SORRY!
