Today’s featured DIY project is a great one because summer is around the corner. That means many of us are looking for new outdoor activities, play places and projects. It often also means that our vehicles are getting a summer facelift with new tires for road trips, etc. So, save those tires and make a fun play place and knock out two summer essentials in one thrifty project!
Not only can you recycle your old used tires for this fun climbing tower for the kids, the other supplies needed are pretty frugal – the main expense is three 4x4x10 treated posts. These are $10 – $15 at Home Depot or Lowes.
This project was created and shared by our friend Jacki from Blessings Overflowing. She shares the step-by-step instructions, along with the full list of supplies.
So there is no need to buy the expensive play equipment, or even the expensive play equipment “DIY Kits” when you just need some simple supplies. This is also a great DIY project for that transition from being a little kid to and older kid. It’s a perfect transition toy! 🙂

I just had all of the tires on both my cars replaced and so now I have a whole bunch of old ones that I don’t know what to do with. However, I think that my kids would love the idea of making a climbing tower out of them. We could probably even have it set up so it leads up to their treehouse and, possibly, even paint the tires before making the tower so that it can be colorful too.
