We are getting ready to start a new theme and challenge here on our site and we encourage you to join us!
We will be starting this challenge just after the first official day of Spring starts (next Thursday, March 21st is our starting date!) so we wanted to give you around a week to gather the items needed before we dive in and start making our own cleaning products and then start getting our homes cleaned out little by little this Spring!
We make our own homemade cleaning products using natural ingredients! Not only is it much, much healthier, but it is also a lot cheaper (even with using coupons on pre-made cleaners).
I have been doing this for years and I make anti-bacterial cleaners too with special ingredients listed in our previous post HERE.
We are going to be making 23 cleaning products and your shopping list is below. It will cost around $12 for the ingredients and most all of the ingredients will make several batches for that $12 too!
Here’s what we will be making:
- Floor cleaners for different floor types
- Anti-bacterial Cleaning Wipes
- Mold and Mildew Remover
- Vacuum Cleaner Deodorizer
- Fruit and Veggie Wash
- Glass/Window Cleaner
- Antibacterial Cleaner

Now please note, there are only 9 ingredients plus essential oils (which really are essential for these cleaners and worth every penny in our cheap essential oils post HERE) to make all of the above! We hope your home, family and health will be much improved and appreciate these products!
Also, after the home cleaning, we will be sharing our homemade personal care and also many medicine replacements in the future. It is too much to share here. Let’s get cleaning out of the way first!
Here’s your shopping list that you can just print off and grab quickly at Walmart or other local stores!

So are you going to post later how to make each cleaner?

I read a thing that washing soda and baking soda are NOT the same thing. Washing soda should never be used as a food additive as it can be caustic to skin. One is sodium bicarbonate and the other is sodium carbonate. Please to not exchange one for the other..
Baking soda has a pH of 8 (7 is neutral) and is best known for its use as a leavening agent in cooking. It also can be used as a mild scouring agent, an antacid and an emergency kitchen fire extinguisher.
Washing Soda
Washing soda is a caustic substance with a pH of 11. Because of this, you should wear gloves when handling it directly. Washing soda is used as a laundry additive and cleanser but never in food. Here is the link to tell you about this.

was wondering were is the hand soap, dish soap and Air Deodorizer recipes? Also
does any one have foaming soap recipes? Last question I have dogs that do there you know what on the side of our yard that has cement. I have tried everything for the smell!!!!! I clean and wash it daily help!!!!
Donna
Id like to know that stuff too if anyone has any good recipes?
I know on amazon kindle there is a how to make your own soap book for free, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet.
I do have a recipe for carpet fresh though, its just baking soda & an essential oil. I eye it, but if I had to guess Id say I use a cup of baking soda and probably about 15 drops of peppermint oil in a tupperware container & shake vigorously. And then vacuum up after maybe 15/30 minutes 🙂 Peppermint is a good clean scent and it seems to rid odors better than others.
Also something I haven’t read anywhere that is ***VERY IMPORTANT*** most essential oils are toxic to pets in the concentrated form! So please be careful of where you are storing them and that if you are using them around your fur kids I always do a clean water rinse after just to be sure, as they can easily be absorbed into the bloodstream by their footpads. If they should get into it IMMEDIATELY call the pet poison control center at (800)213-6680, there is a small $40 fee, but it beats a Huge vet bill of ICU later down the line. Time is of the essence when it comes to poison and what you do at home could save your baby’s life

Try washing it down with powdered lime from your garden store.

Do you think I can substitute Dr. Bronner’s liquid castile soap for the castile bars? I have a lot of the liquid in three scents. What do you suppose the proportion would be?

I just received my TVS-h874 yesterday! I am coming from synology. I have a 920+ and 1821+. Synology has decided to “design out” multimedia Plex users as the 920+ was the last good Plex NAS from them for that purpose. THIS THING IS A BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Intel UHD 770 FTW!!!! On a semi related note, I have a 920+ and 1821+ for sale. REPLY ON YOUTUBE
