Here is an on-line Office Max deal to take advantage of if you need backpacks and paper!
Office Max is running some deal offers online only promotion right now where you can essentially receive paper for cheap by getting $15 back in Office Max Max Perks rewards. PLUS there is a FREE backpack promotion right now!
Here’s how it works:
- First, you will need to join the Max Perks Rewards program (it’s FREE) if you do not already have a rewards account – it is required to receive the rewards back on your purchases at Office Max.
- Second, head to ShopAtHome for 4% cash back on this purchase.
- If you are new to ShopAtHome, register for FREE and you will get a $5 bonus.
- After logging-in or signing-up, search for Office Max on the search bar
- Office Max should appear as the first option, click on the Office Max button – then click through to the Office Max website on the right side of the page.
- Then purchase your items that you want from this sale – here’s the items and the limit on each – stock up!
- We recommend purchasing 2 backpacks (the limit for the FREE ones) and up to 3 cases of paper (the limit for the rewards on these).
- The backpacks for this promotion range in price from $29.99 – $98.99.
- To find the on-line only paper deal, click on the paper tab on the Office Max homepage and you will see the advertisement for it!
- Purchase at least $50 worth of products from the selection to qualify for the FREE shipping (but if you order at least $50 in backpacks you will receive 100% back!)
So here’s what a transaction can look like on this deal once you have followed the steps above if you need both backpacks and paper:
- Buy 2 backpacks for $29.99 = $59.98
- Buy 1 Case of paper for $34.99 (regularly $47.99-$48.99) = $94.97
- Receive FREE shipping to your door = $94.97 PLUS FREE Shipping!
- Then receive $15 back in rewards for the paper = $79.97
- Then receive $59.98 back in rewards for the backpacks = $19.99
- Then receive 4% of $94.97 back from ShopAtHome – $3.80 = final is $16.19 for 2 backpacks and a case of paper!
- If you are new to ShopAtHome, you will also receive a $5 bonus rebate back = final is $11.19 for 2 backpacks and a case of paper.
To make money on this transaction, this is how you would do it:
- Buy 2 backpacks for $29.99 = $59.98
- Receive FREE shipping to your door = $59.98 PLUS FREE Shipping!
- Then receive $59.98 back in rewards for the backpacks = $0.00 PLUS FREE shipping

We actually ordered 2 very nice LapTop Backpacks (so we can bring the deals to you where ever we are ;)) that retail for $69 each. Thrifty Al has been using a FREE one from a conference with the sponsors name all over it and I have been using a very old, second-hand bag for a long time – just because we are thrifty like that, but who says you can’t be thrifty and have nice things – here is an example. We would never normally spend $70 bucks for a laptop bag, but now we get to indulge (if you can’t virtually tell, I am a little excited about this!!)!
When we receive our Office Max rewards, we use them to purchase ink when we receive them and we rarely need to pay for ink. We like receiving Office Max rewards over many other office store rewards because they often have ink deals for the HP ink that we need to buy – for example, this week they have a promotion where if you purchase $60 in HP ink – you receive a FREE $15 iTunes gift card. This is an EXTRA $15 on top of the money maker already! Office Max runs ink promotions similar to this often!
This deal is valid now through July 31st.

How do you get a Max Perks reward membership if you are not a teacher or business?
thriftycas
We signed up in the store several months ago and they said that everyone signs up under the teacher one – but you do not have to be a teacher. The Max Perks is available for everyone!
Thanks!
Haila
If you read the terms & conditions for the business one, it doesn’t have any criteria that would exclude anyone. Really, if you’re alive and breathing, you probably can (ethically and honestly) meet their criteria.
One more thing to note is you have like 90 days to spend the Max Perks once they are in your account. So you need to keep on top of things.
Love these deals, but unfortunately, Office Max doesn’t stock ink for my particular printer. 🙁

Please clarify for me. This is not free upfront right? You get a rebate for the purchase price in September/October in your Office Max Perks account?
thriftycas
Yes, you will receive the rewards back in Sept./Oct. I am at Target shopping right now – otherwise I would update the post to make it a little clearer. Your out o pocket is the cost of the items. That is why I talk about how we use our rewards that we get to the purchase ink later. Hopefully that makes sense! I love this deal – I get a super fancy high tech bag for Free! Yipeeee!!! I hope you all are finding treasures

Their ink is waaaay more expensive than places like amazon. So I use my rewards to buy Christmas & birthday gifts when the items are on clearance.

I signed up for Shop at Home and then made my purchases at Office Max directly from Shop at Home’s website and it looks like my 4% cash back didn’t go through. I am so disappointed! I paid $14 in taxes on my purchases and that $4 would have been great! 🙁
thriftycas
Hi Lindsey, I don’t know when you made the purchase – but it does take several days (about 3) for your % back to show up as they merchant (in this case Office Max) needs to approve and complete the transaction, then it is credited once the item is shipped and complete. Also, you can contact Shop At Home about the status if you are concerned and don’t see it. Here is the link to the Shop At Home contact form: http://www.shopathome.com/RebateInquiry.aspx
Also, if it was your first purchase – you should also see the $5 too 😉

I purchased two backpacks in the same order but only received the bonus reward for one of them. Was there a dollar amount limit?
thriftycas
There shouldn’t have been. We asked our local store about it at the time, I would call Office Max and talk to them about it and make sure they resolve it! There was no limit advertised.

I’m impressed, I must say. Really not often do I encounter a blog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your idea is excellent; the problem is something that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I am very joyful that I stumbled across this in my search for one thing regarding this.
