There are not many things as comforting as homemade bread from home! When it comes out warm, tasty, and melts in your mouth – it’s just so satisfying! Not only that, but it makes your house smell amazing – more so than any candle or artificial fragrance. 🙂
There are hundreds of different bread recipes out there, but we wanted to share a fun one today that uses fresh pears! Spiced Pear Bread! So yummy!
Last year, we purchased a case of pears for really cheap and tried to find tons of different ways to use them all, along with preserving many. Breads, salads and casseroles all contained pears for a week! But it was really good and a fun week of new recipe experiments. Most recipes we liked and some were just okay! But breads are just pure awesome – kids, adults and all alike love it!
Note: for allergy changes – use the Best DIY Gluten-Free Flour to make this gluten-free and still just as nummy and fluffy. This also does contain pecans, but just omit for nut allergies. Still tastes great!
Ingredients Needed for DIY Spiced Pear Bread Recipe:
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 1⁄2 cups pears – peeled, cored and chopped
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
How to Make Spiced Pear Bread:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease two 8×4 inch loaf pans
2. In large mixing bowl, combine oil, sugar and eggs – beat well. Stir in pears, pecans and vanilla. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
3.Stir dry ingredients into the pear mixture; mix well. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a loaf comes out clean. Allow loaves to cool in pans for 10 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
This bread will store for several days. Also, it will last another day or two stored in the fridge. I find that it is easiest to cut it after it has cooled (like in the fridge especially) and then it can be easily warmed up again in the microwave for 5 seconds a slice! Brings that “fresh from the oven” smell and warm taste back!
