In fact, as a family, over the last decade, we have done a handful of these Amazon side hustles and have generated over $120,000 in revenue. That’s about $12,000 per year or around $1,000 a month! That is NOT A BAD side hustle. We have spent just a few hours a week, minus the initial set up on the side hustle, to be able to have a passive $1k a month income from Amazon. So we are happy to say that Amazon is paying us more than we are paying them!

Amazon is a HUGE corporation with the largest market. In fact, in late 2017, Jeff Bezos, the Amazon CEO, officially became the richest man in the world, surpassing Bill Gates officially. 

Many of us have grown to love the affordable products and services that Amazon offers. We have been customers for years. I don’t know how long, but it’s been a long time. We have been customers because we have been unable to beat the prices, not on everything, but many times, over and over again. 

As the years have gone on, they have rolled out with more and more products and services that are proving to be very competitive, thus they have become the leader in many markets. Not to mention, that snazzy two-day shipping, Amazon Prime which not only generates two-day shipping, but the plethora of free movies, television shows, eBooks, music and many more services.  

But here’s the great thing. Amazon uses the power of it’s customers to supply many of the products and services, and what this means is that you can work from home and make money either full-time or on the side. 

In fact, there are countless “Amazon Millionaires” out there – those that have used the options below to make multi-millions, retire early and work-at-home. Now while becoming an Amazon Millionaire is certainly in the realm of possibility, I think most of us would be quite content to meet our 2% goals for the month, or run a part-time side gig, or even a full-time work-at-home job. And with Amazon, this is an everyday reality for millions of people.

1. Customer Service Rep….from home

One of the obvious pros of this opportunity with Amazon is that you get to work from home while still bringing in income for your family. Amazon’s mission is to be ‘Earth’s most customer-centric company’, and to get there customer service is a vital part. You need to be able to work directly with people and answer any questions or concerns they have regarding shopping, their website, and Amazon-specific products such as kindle, alexa, and echo. They offer full-time, part-time, and seasonal jobs depending on what you want to pursue, so you have options there. They also support 75+ locations with customer service, so you could qualify even more if you are fluent in a foreign language.   

So to wrap it up, you can be a customer service representative from home with the hours that you wish. The qualifications for this job are being able to interact well with other people via phone, chat, and email. Having knowledge of a foreign language is also a good goal for this job.

2. Sell Your T-Shirt Designs with Merch by Amazon

The Merch by Amazon program is awesome! Merch by Amazon is a part of Amazon that allows you to create t-shirts and sell your t-shirts on the Amazon Marketplace. If you have a funny, cute, serious saying that everyone loves…put it on a t-shirt! If you have a really cool drawing or design that you have gotten compliments on…put it on a t-shirt! 

The possibility of designs are endless. Some will be a big hit, while some might not be. But it’s ok. The best part is that you can just design and try to sell it until you find that one sweet spot! 

Before we go into more details about this option for making money from Amazon, we want to emphasize that this is an awesome program. There are many reasons why this is awesome but here are our top three reasons why:

1. There is no investment required. Seriously. None. How? Well, all you have to do is design your shirt and set the price. Amazon will print it as it sells. Then Amazon takes their cut. You will actually know what Amazon’s cut is before you set your price. There are many factors that go into Amazon’s pricing to print and ship your shirt like quality of fabric, graphics, front and back printing, etc. But if you design your shirt, they will tell you that it will be $6 for them to print and ship the shirt, then you can set your price for anything you want and set it accordingly. For example, if you then set it for $9.99, you will make a $4 profit with NO MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKET! How awesome is that?!?
2. The program is really easy to use. The main issue with designing t-shirts is the ease in design and creation. They have a super slick system that allows you to design a t-shirt in no time! 
3. You get paid regularly and your t-shirt is listed on the largest online website. You can get a paycheck every month! 

Those are some of our favorite reasons. There is one major negative….this program has become so popular that it is now hard to get into to. You have to apply and then it takes many months of waiting to see if you have been approved. And from our experience, approval is about 50/50 after already waiting many months. 

We were finally accepted and have designed our t-shirts. When we wear them, we get lots of comments on the funny and witty design. But we haven’t marketed them at all yet, so we have only sold 3 total. But we have marketing plans for 2018, so I hope the story is different in a few months. We hope to bring in a consistent $100 per month from our t-shirts. This income didn’t really require much more than the initial set-up and very little time required to run this little side gig. 

My best friend and I started her t-shirt business for our family travel blog that I (Cassie) co-write at. My best friend has taken the lead on the designs and marketing of our t-shirts through MousekeMoms. You can check out our designs HERE on Amazon for some ideas and see what we have done. 

In July 2017, we were approved to begin. So we want to share our starts from the beginning, knowing that today, it’s a nice little side hustle! Here’s how the earnings break down from month #1 – month #6. From our own order, we made $6.34. We sold nothing in August as it takes time to get traction and to market your shirts on social media and your followers. By September, we started making money and here’s what we made:

• September – $43.14
• October – $28.76
• November – $179.92
• December – $124.22

Including July’s small commission, this is a total of $382.08 – nearly $100 a month! Because her designs are doing so well, we also recently “tiered” up, which means that we can now have over 100 designs in our t-shirt store, as well as sweatshirts and other products. So the world is opening up more.

3. Become an Amazon Affiliate

One of the most common and popular ways to make money with Amazon is through Affiliate Marketing.

Do you know what that is? 

In a nutshell, if you find a product on Amazon that you like or that you use, if you tell others about it, whether on social media or on a blog, podcast, YouTube channel, etc. then you can make a little money from it.

For example, I love this kitchen tool. I use it all of the time and it is one of my favorites. If I share it here on our site telling you how I use it and how much I love it and share the link, if you click on the link and buy this item, I will make 7% of the sale. Which at the time of the writing of this post, it is priced at $20, so I would make $1.40 for each one sold. 

But that’s not it…one really cool thing about Amazon is once someone clicks on your affiliate link, your link is valid for 24 hours. So if they buy ANYTHING on Amazon during that time period, we would make about 7% (there are different levels based on product, just using this amount for ease) on those purchases. 

So if you share a product a day through your social media channels or you write a blog post and share a few products in it, you can bank some links and make commissions on anything those readers buy. It is easy to make product recommendations on Amazon because nearly everyone buys products from Amazon because the prices are also super competitive! So it is a win-win for all! Even better is during the fall and holiday season because our commissions from Amazon as affiliates increases by 2-4 times during that season alone! 

In the end, we make product recommendations a handful of times in a month. I don’t do it daily because I genuinely recommend products. Most commonly, I am sharing links on our Facebook page, rather than our site here.

From these efforts, we make a few hundred each month in affiliate commissions, but over the years, we have been paid over six-figures from Amazon Affiliate program alone. That’s a super sweet, passive side hustle! 

If you want to be able to make money from Affiliate Marketing, then you need to check out this post on How to Start a Blog (which is a super low investment and you can make money a number of ways with a blog, not just the Amazon Affiliate Program).  You can have your blog going in 15-minutes and with very little investment using the steps we show. Once that is done, you can apply for the Amazon Affiliate Program. There is no waiting list and virtually everyone who applies is accepted (except offensive websites). 

So although this option requires you to start a blog about anything, it is a consistent, long-term way to make money from Amazon. 

4. Become an Amazon Influencer

If you just simply love shopping and buying from Amazon, you can use your love and your influence to your friends and followers on social media to post your curated and favorites and recommend products to your friends and followers for a commission. 

This is much like the affiliate, except that it’s for those that don’t have a blog or content site, but simply just want to recommend and influence through social media and still earn a commission without much effort! 

This is NOT open to everyone. You have to apply and Amazon has to decide if your social media account with the highest followers/activity/engagement will qualify. The best way to know is just to take a few minutes to apply to the Amazon Influencer Program HERE. 

5. Sell products on Amazon through the “Fulfilled By Amazon” option

Amazon is like the new eBay. It is more popular, easier and well trusted by shoppers. It is preferred over eBay. But this option here is for selling new items. The next option will share an eBay type option, but with less fees and ease. 

However, this option is where MOST of Amazon’s Millionaires have been made – selling on Amazon through the “Fulfilled by Amazon” option. 

Selling directly through Amazon is good too, but your return on investment will likely be better using this option. 

Why?

Because these items are the Amazon Prime items, in addition, because it is being sent and shipped from Amazon, consumers tend to trust the purchase better. 

Did you know that a good majority of the products sold on Amazon are other people’s products that Amazon is just storing and shipping on their behalf? This cuts down Amazon’s need to carry their own inventory. But it is a fantastic option for making money from home.  

It is also an easier option for you. You order products and have them sent to Amazon in one bulk order and then list your items. As they sell, Amazon pulls your products from their storage and ships as they sell, under the Prime option. 

In addition, Prime items are often listed first in a search that people will do on Amazon when they are looking for items. 

Here’s a good example of how this works, along with the segway into regular selling on Amazon and fulfilling the orders yourself.

6. Sell Products Directly on Amazon

One of the most obvious ways of making money on Amazon is selling products. We have already covered the “Fulfilled by Amazon” section of selling, but now let’s move on to just selling. You do need to pay to use their platform to sell your items, and it depends on how much you are selling. You can either sell as a professional or a individual. To sell as an individual, you pay $0.99 per item you sell and you are selling under 40 items per month. As a professional you pay a monthly fee of $39.99 and you are planning on selling more than 40 items. With both plans you are going to be paying referral fees and variable closing fees. 

Again, The Selling Family has some training resources to help you learn and dive right in. They went from poverty to millionaires in a short time period because of the Fulfilled by Amazon and Selling on Amazon options. 

There are not a ton of differences between direct selling and “fulfilled by Amazon” except that one looks as if it is coming from Amazon, which means a better ROI. 

7. Do Trade-Ins with Amazon

For trade-ins with Amazon, you are not going to be making actual money, but Amazon gift cards, which means you can make your Amazon purchases with gift cards, freeing up your actual cash for other purchases or to go towards debt. There are thousands of items you can currently send in that are now open for trade-in. You cannot send in any item that they have not specified in that list. There is no need for you to pay shipping, as they give you shipping labels you print off, making the whole process super easy. They do need to be in a good condition, which is specified on their page. Here is the link that details the Amazon Trade-in program.

8. Earn Amazon Gift Cards

Similar to the previous point, there are free and discounted ways to earn Amazon gift cards, which again means that you can use those to make your Amazon purchases, freeing up your cash for debt or other financial needs. 

There are many ways to find and earn discounted gift cards, but many include lots of “hoops” and can be hard to keep up with. 

So we are narrowing the options down to two main options. One is a place to get discounted gift cards and the other is the easiest way to earn free gift cards. 

• Cardpool
• Swagbucks

Cardpool

Cardpool is simply a discounted gift card reseller. There are billions of dollars worth of unused gift cards floating around in the world. Many people simply do not use their gift cards. So they will sell their gift cards for a discount to Cardpool to at least get some cash value out. 

Well, Cardpool will then turnaround and sell the gift cards for a discount. They are anywhere from 3%-20% off. This is a great place to get discount Amazon gift cards to make your dollars stretch, which is like bringing in a bit of extra income.

Swagbucks

We LOVE Swagbucks. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! It is has been one of the easiest, passive ways for us to earn extra money. Honestly, we’ve spent less than 15 minutes a year to make money on it. And annually, we generate about $1,000. 15 minutes of work for $1,000? That’s super sweet! 

We laid out how Swagbucks works in a previous post, but in a nutshell, if you use Swagbucks as your search engine instead of google, you earn a few swagbucks each time. When you hit 100 swagbucks, it’s equivalent to $1. So it can add up over time. Also, there are more ways to earn bonus swagbucks than just searching, but at the very least, there is no harm in getting started and letting them bank.

Once you have at least $5 worth, you can start cashing in on gift cards, including Amazon gift cards. These are totally free gift cards that you passively earned in the background. Like we mentioned, we passively bank $1,000 worth of Swagbucks each year, this is about $83 of Swagbucks per month, or $2-$3 per day.

9. Create your own eBooks, Workbooks, Cookbooks, Educational Printables, etc. through Create Space

I LOVE this one! Why? Because we do this ourselves. We’ve created one workbook so far that we sell on Amazon through Create Space. This is an amazing option because it is similar to the Merch by Amazon t-shirt business, but this is one that we started making money FAST on and there is not a waiting list for this program like the Merch program. 

Instead of t-shirts, in this case, you create your printed materials through Create Space. Then you list it on Amazon and it is printed as it sells. Which means that you are not having to pay for any upfront printing costs or anything! You set the price you want, and Amazon will show you how much their cost is to print and ship the book. Your profits are the after the Amazon Fees. So for example, if you create an educational workbook for students, you can sell the workbook for $9.95. Amazon’s fees might be around $5-$6 for the printing (this is a VERY loose estimate because so many factors are included with the fees for your work like color printing, number of pages, etc.) and so then you can make $4-$5 each one you sell, with NO risk! 

In fact, we started selling one workbook on Amazon towards the end of October. In the first 3-months, we earned $512. This was profit AFTER Amazon’s fees. So this one trick has helped us meet our 2% goal more than twice each month at an income of just around $170 each month! 

We have several other printed workbooks and eBooks that we are in the process of creating to list for sale this year to increase our earnings through this one outlet. 

You can create anything – if you are really good at crocheting, create a step-by-step book and sell it. If you are a really good planner, create a planner and sell it! There are literally hundreds of thousands of ideas. Just do it and see what sells and what doesn’t as there is no risk, except your time! 

10. Sell Yourself: Sell Your Professional Services

Amazon has now made it possible for you to sell yourself…well at least, your professional services. The list of what “professional” services qualifies as can be found on their landing page for this work at home job with Amazon. But in a nutshell, it’s basic handyman, repair and cleaning services. 

This is worth checking out if anything you have done, can do or want to do involves fixing things, hanging portraits or tv mounts, washing windows, pulling weeds, etc. then this is worth checking out. 

Amazon will list your professional services on their app in your local area so those in your local area can find someone to do the service they need. 

The great part about this work at home job with Amazon is that there is $0 investment required. We LOVE these types of side hustles and love that Amazon has so many ways to earn with $0 investment. It means it doesn’t hurt to try and doesn’t hurt to make it happen! 

Since the professional services industry is a $600 Billion industry, any person with a skill and a passion can tap into that easier than ever. 

Although there are no investments required to participate, this option does have greater requirements and restrictions than most listed. You will need general liability insurance and licensing for trade professions (Electrician, plumber, etc.). You can get more information on this page. 

You are going to apply to sell professional services for a work at home job on Amazon HERE and you will be able to choose the main service you will provide, along with other secondary services. Amazon will send you jobs to do when customers request them, and all you need to do is complete the specified job and get paid by Amazon. 11. Publish a Book Through Kindle Publishing

If you like writing, you can write about anything that you are passionate about or that you are an expert on and turn it into a digital book and sell it through the Amazon Kindle program! 

It’s super simple! In fact, just as simple as CreateSpace. CreateSpace is for printed materials and so this can be anything from books to workbooks, to coloring books, but Kindle versions are your books that you can make a digital copy of and sell through the Kindle Publishing options. 

This is the next step for us! We’d love to publish books to Kindle and we are even encouraging our teen daughter, who loves to write fiction, to also publish some of her recent writings. We will update with our results, but it is another option that does not hurt to try! 

This is something you can turn into a cash cow tomorrow…minus the time it takes to write and edit an ebook.

12. Do Random Tasks Through Amazon’s Mechanical Turk

Both businesses and workers can benefit from this program. First, a worker can use their various skills in a job provided by Amazon by using this link.  You will be doing HITs (Human Intelligence Tasks) from companies for things that humans can complete more thoroughly and quicker than a computer can. So rather than hiring a full-time team that will not be cost effective for them, they will put out the HITs and you can choose which ones you would like to complete. 

For the business, the benefit is that you don’t need to hire a ton of staff, or even just one person full-time, but rather, use this service to get quick tasks done, saving them time and money. 

So if you want some one-off tasks here and there, check the Amazon Mechanical Turk options. 

13. Make $18-$25 Per Hour Delivering Packages Through Amazon Flex

With Amazon Flex you will be delivering packages in your own vehicle. It’s flexible, as you will specify your own blocks of time you will be making deliveries. You will pick up the packages in your own vehicle, and then you will deliver them according to a delivery route they have planned out for your and will give you directions. With Amazon Flex, you can make about $18 – $25 an hour.

14. Make $300K with Your Own Amazon Delivery Business

There is now a second option to deliver packages from Amazon. This one is a bit more involved than Flex, but can also be far more profitable long-term. That is becoming your own delivery company with Amazon being your primary client…and they will even help fund much of your business. But this business does require a $10K investment to start. Amazon states that you can earn up $300K just from them as one of your delivery clients, so it could pay off nicely! This option is also more of a full-time commitment, not as much a side hustle. But with the low investment for the potential ROI, it’s worth mentioning.

15. Sell Your Items Through Amazon Handmade

On Amazon Handmade you will be able to sell products that are made with time and work, a novelty in our day with the majority of products made in factories. This is a wonderful work at home job with Amazon side hustle idea for those of you that are hobbyists or crafters! What a great way to earn on something you love to do!

After you have signed up and are approved for the program here, you will set up your artisan profile and begin putting your handmade products on your profile.

Listings are free to make and never expire, so you do not need to worry about the price or refreshing your listings. Another great way that Amazon is helping generate real income from side hustles. After, people can find your  products on Amazon Handmade and you don’t have to do anything else but keep your products in stock and sharing your merch! You can pay for Amazon fulfillment in which Amazon will send the packages for you and prime members will get free shipping. It is extra, and the prices are here – it is up to you to weigh the pros and the cons. 

16. Create an Audiobook 

Finally, the last work at home jobs with Amazon that we will mention in this article is creating your own audiobooks! 

If you have written anything, turn it into an audiobook and earn royalties from downloads.
