Walmart Price matching
Our goal is always to be the low price leader in every community where we operate. Our customers trust us to have every day low prices … there’s no need for “special sales.”
Our unbeatable promise:
Store managers make the final decision in always taking care of our customers, but we do have guidelines for matching our competition.
- We do honor “Preferred Shopping Card” advertised prices. Must be like items, be advertised and require a competitor’s shopping card, for the discount to apply.
- We do not honor advertisements that require a purchase in order to receive the advertised price or free product.
- We do not honor “Buy One / Get One Free” advertisements.
- We do not honor double or triple coupons or percent off advertisements.
- We do not honor other retailers’ “Misprinted” advertised prices.
- We do not honor Internet Pricing.
- We do not honor competitor advertisements from outside of the store’s or Club’s local trade territory.

Walmart Coupon Policy
Walmart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):
- Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
- Free merchandise (or manufacturer’s Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
- Store coupons
- Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
- Internet coupons
- Soft drink container caps
The following are guidelines and limits:
- Walmart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.
- Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Walmart will not accept expired coupons.
- Internet coupons should be legible and say “Manufacturer Coupon.” There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code.
- Only one coupon per item is permitted.
- Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

I don’t have any trouble with ad matching or couponing at Walmart. Then again… My husband use to be the Customer Service Manager (CSM) there and I always take him with me. Most of the cashiers know him and me by now and know that we know the rules better than they do. Plus, Walmart overall has a mindset where they are willing to lose a few dollars on an item because they believe that if they can get you into the store, you are going to buy other things at full price and you will be a repeat customer, which makes them money long term. Sorry the rest of you have trouble. Next time, call 1-800-WALMART and file a complaint. They actually take those seriously, believe it or not. I’ve seen them do crazy things to fix a minor problem the customer had.

COOL STORY BRO

My experience is that they are the “, we can’t, don’t, won’t do that store”. I believe their Policy is “We can afford to lose a few customer, because for every few lost, we gain a thousand, and keep six thousand”. Also, they would rather lose a customer then a few dollars.
Yoli
All the coupon policies are ok, but some cashiers get mad when they have to match prices or redeem coupons, like if the money was taken out of they’re pay check, they need to fix that., the people that use wick are in fact taking it out of they’re pay check not me, I’m just using my brain to save some money and not asking for anything free, Walmart is a great store but not always as friendly as they advertise.
Paula
I agree about walmart’s rude employees. I had a cashier tell me that it might be better for me to go to meijers next time if I was going to price match so many items. This was at mason ohio. I had another one tell me that they don’t accept other store coupons
Ruth Powell
I had the same thing happen to me today. I’m really rather steamed. I tried to buy Chips Deluxe cookies for the children. When I got up there, the manager or whomever she was told me it was only for the family size. I told her I had ads from 4 different local stores–Winn Dixie, Publix, Walgreens, and CVS. She and the cashier absolutely insisted that it had to be family size, when I of course, had looked carefully at the ad and picked up the correct ones. Then she refused to take competitor’s coupons because they didn’t have a bar code and it said redeem at Publix. I told her the store in Live Oak, accepted them all the time with no problems. Well, I just read the guidelines for accepting coupons and the only ones it said had to have a bar code were online manufacturer’s coupons. Competitors do not have a bar code for their coupons. The both of them were morons and if I hadn’t been so stressed by this time, with them telling me I couldn’t get this and that, I would have searched through all the sales ads I had with me and insisted on getting the right price. I have to use an electric cart and there people behind me. With all the cuts, they had made in staff, I just felt it wasn’t worth me holding up other customers. I will take it up with her tomorrow. She even told me the store in Live Oak was wrong. I took my money and my coupons and went to the other stores and by the time I got out, I did almost as good as I would have, if I had bought it from stupidmart. Publix, Winn Dixie are just down the road from the house, and Dollar General, Family Dollar, CVS, and Walgreens are all in the same location along with an Ace Hardware Store. Walmart can keep their few little pennies they didn’t want to give me and I will take my business elsewhere. Doesn’t matter about meat, I only shop at Publix for that. Walmart’s meats and produce are horrible.

I was just in Walmart & ad matching & couponing & the cashier was great but the csm called over a manager. I had a coupon that valued more than the item & the manager threw a fit. He said he wasn’t gonna give me money back. I told him that I was still going to pay money bc not all my stuff was coupons & ad match & in there policy that I found. Then I asked to speak w the store manager. I worked at Walmart for two years so I do know the rules. Well he finally came back & told the cashier to do it. He told me he would do it this once but next time I have to pick either ad match or coupons… It doesn’t say anything about you can only do one!!! I think I’m going to the number u left.
Kathy Braun
The manufacturer will honor their coupons, and the store will recuperate the value of the coupon, so it is wrong to tell you you may not use a coupon that is of greater value than price paid for the item.
cynthia
in your post in april you mentioned a number. Is that a phone number? if so can you pass it to me? we went to walmart yesterday and after the time and effort I put into searching the comp ads and organizing them so they were the last items to ring up and use my coupons to get a better savings (ha!) the cashier told me I could not use the comp ad and the coupon for the same item. I just looked up their policies and I don’t see anywhere that you can not use them together. Am I right? did I miss something? I don’t want to waste my time organinzing to be told they wont do it. but that really pissed me off. when I know ive done it before. thanks!
Shana
It is considered double couponing so there for the cashier was correct. They do take comp coupons. All manufacture coupons are accepted but internet coupons must have the barcode and the cashier must be able to scan it. Not all cashiers are rude and unfriendly and the ones that say they can’t take comp coupons are wrong.

Hi, I went to 5 different wal-marts to ad match an item on Amazon (no third party) and got many excuses all leading to store manager that they could not accept the matching due to … cannot use two offers on one item (ad match and in store gift card for the item purchased as stated on the walmart website) . I have two video recordings of the managers telling me they refuse to honor because it is not allowed then after advising several times that it is not in the policy that we cannot use amazon then get the store gift card back they would find away around it and throw out the other “actual” policy…”STORE SUPERVISOR HAS THE FINAL DECISION” in which they did but this was still furiating that I showed receipts from a different city allowing this but that these stores did not. I do not feel I should have to drive 40 miles out of my way to get the item that i want. Then again I shouldnt have to since the policy clearly does NOT state that only one offer can be used. One store manager stated that “if I ad match the product that since the register prompts to give the gift card that she would remove it from me and not give it to me”. This issue is very upsetting since I coupon alot at walmart and know the policy very well, but its true they have the final say so and I dont feel that the policy should state that unless within reason like the customer being extremely rude or even then just causing problems. But in this case I asked the questins I needed to ask and when the final refusal was given I thanked and left.
Diana
Hey everybody…..Go to http://www.Walmart.com look for Coupon and Sale Policy and print it out with the letter head on the page. Put them in a folder and take it with you. So the next time you have a problem just pull it out along with the Walmart 800 phone number. This should solve all the problems. Good Luck
Patrik Lundin
The policy says “Store manager has the final decision”. So.. basically you’d be presenting a piece of paper saying he/she is correct – he doesn’t not in fact have to honor an ad match and combine it with an in-store card. He doesn’t have to honor an ad match period. They often do anyway, but unfortunately there’s nothing to present, they’ve reserved the right to not honor it if they don’t feel like it. It kind of sucks, but I guess I can understand why some bargains that would result would be too cool otherwise. I wish they weren’t and sometimes they *do* honor it, but unfortunately they didn’t guarantee that.
Luna
Wal mart in Rockwall texas 75087, does not want to match FIESTA or other mexican supermarkets offers. Thay are claiming only big stores KROGER,Tom THumb.
The manager of the store is also saying stores need to be within 5 miles of walmart.
Is this true?
Michelle
No it is not true! Call or email Walmart directly and they will get into trouble and a manager will call you to help you. When I have a problem I call corporate and within a day or two a manager calls me back. They get into big trouble when you call corporate on them.
Kim
I live in a rural area in Southern Missouri. Our local store says within 50 miles.
Jerry
It has no mileage as long as it is in your area where you live and no they will match it they match our Mexican market here and don’t let him tell you they don’t match me at either cuz they do match meat call and threaten and tell them you want to speak to somebody in the Executive offices I told them I was going to get a bunch of drunks buy some beer and Pickett at their store and let everybody know that there not upholding their policies I got calls within 5 minutes from a manager at the store and an executive fixer guy he called himself he investigated it they wanted to know why I threatened to get a bunch of people and buy beer and throw it at the building that’s what they received but I explain to them what I said we knew the manager that called hung up from him and got a call from the executive Fix-It guy he checked into it they do do Meats they price match everything as long as it is named Brand to name brand or meat by the lb to lb meat witch don’t have to be name-brand unless it’s Tyson chicken to Tyson chicken and vegetables no brand names been price matching since they started in over 5 years ago

I decided to go to Walmart in Keller TX on Beach and Tarrant to buy Brawny paper towels last night. They had the same product on a in store sale at Kroger 10 for $10 at Heritage Trace. But I decided to be loyal to Walmart. Big Mistake !!!! Because Marcia would not honor any sale prices for any stores unadvertized in store sales. I offered to give her the phone number to Kroger, so she could verify it. But she refused. This is the second time this has happened to me at this Walmart.
The first time, I had to go round and round with Pauline the store manager and she finally agreed to honor the prices as she knew I was telling the truth about the sales at the competitors. I think, I will just go to Kroger and Albertson’s from now on and tell my family and friends to do the same. I had enough. Walmart is wasting my time and energy. Just think, if I would of went to Kroger for the Brawny paper towels I would not have been hassled and Kroger will double my .50 coupon and I would have gotten all of the paper towels FOR FREE. And the Kroger cashier would be happy to see me and then the bagger would offer to help me load my car. Kroger and Albertson’s still believe in customer service. Think about this….The Walmart giant will eventually put the customer friendly merchant’s out of business. Then we will all have to be at the mercy of Walmart’s price’s and thier poor customer service and the continued hassle of making a purchase that they will not match.
christa
walmart does not match another store everyday price on items – and it states this on the commercials – they AD MATCH ” if you see it in another stores PRINTED ad they match it –
Michelle
Sorry but they do not honor any price, only if it is in an ad.
TIFFANY
I HATE WALMART THEY TRY TO LIE ABOUT THERE COUPON POLICY AND THERE PRICE MATCH POLICYS LIKE TODAY I WENT AND THEY TRIED TO TELL ME I COULDNT GET THE 10 FOR 10 ITEMS WHEN IT SPECIFICALLY SAYS THEY DO IN THERE POLICY SO I AM PRINTING IT AND TAKING IT BACK TO THE STUPID STORE MANAGER WHO IS VERY RUDE N SNOBBY LIKE SHES A MILLIONARE
mina
I went to walmart today to price match a few items from the Walgreens Ad but the CSM said they dont do after register rewards prices. Like if it says pay $2.99 get $2 register rewards = like paying .99 Cents=. A lady i know did this same transaction the day before and the cashier gave it to her. So is it policy not to honor after register rewards prices? Or is it totally up to the CSM and Cashier?
Crystal
They really aren’t supposed to honor register rewards prices because you actually still pay the 2.99 at Walgreen’s and get register rewards to use on a later purchase. If someone did it for your friend they shouldn’t have.
Janice Moyer
So what is the difference between the “preferred cardholders” pricing & the register rewards?
debbie
I went to walmart to price match and coupons. They wouldnt match quite a few of the things I was going to purchase. I was told that becasue the store was too far away. I looked for restrictions about mileage and couldnt find any. She wouldnt take one of my coupons because she said i had to buy two of the items and that was not the case.
she was also rude and keep rolling her eyes at the customer behind me. very bad experience for me. price match is not worth the hassle. i will just start going to the store that has the sale. that way i can also get double coupons on items purchased. They have lost a lot of my business now.
Marge
I have had some very bad experiences trying to price match at Walmart over the years. The most recent was this weekend when I tried to price match Mountain Dew that was less money at Menards. When I told her that I wanted to price match and the price it was at Menards she said loudly so all the customers behing me could hear “I’ll bet it is” very sarcastically like I was trying to cheat the store and told me that I couldn’t do it. I called the Walmart customer service number and they told me they could have helped with that yesterday and hung up on me. I have stopped price matching/shopping in Walmart in the past due to the rude treatment and then started again. The treatment this weekend and being hung up on without any resolution to my question about Walmart’s price match policy was the last straw. From now on I will always go to the store where the item is and buy it there and at the same time buy anything else I need. I don’t have time for the hassel and don’t deserve the rude treatment because I am trying to save my family money.
Ashley
I just tried to match a piggly wiggly ad at my local wal-mart. I got the ad in my local paper. The Blue Bunny Half Gallon Ice Cream is on sale for 99 Cents each, limit 5. I got some last night with no problem. I went back today, and they said since the ad shows square containers, and wal-marts containers are oval, they refused to ad-match the item. I was enraged! REFUSED Over a container shape?! It was the same size and brand…. what does the container shape have to do with anything?! I felt insulted by their attitudes. The CSM even pulled out his cell phone to calculate how much I was supposidly trying to *steal* from walmart, and I snaped a picture of him holding his phone… AT THE REGISTER WHILE ON DUTY! Lets see what home-office has to say about that!
christa
the container shape has nothing to do with and yes a cashier may get their phone out on duty to use the calculator on it – it was not to see how much supposedly “trying to steal”(your words) at times have to use it to figure the price
Kathy Braun
Wal-Mart has the right to its policy. It is, after all, their policy, and the merchandise is theirs, until someone buys it. Naturally, they do not accept another store’s coupon; that coupon is for that store only. The policy reads that they match the price, when the price is not specified, there is no price to match. Other stores know the policy, and purposefully do not print the price in their ad. You can find the policy online, print it and bring that with you to ensure the associates follow the letter of the policy. It is also always a good idea to bring with you any ad you want to match. Further, store managers and assistant managers have full discretion to interpret the policy, and to give a customer what will make that customer happy. Wal-Mart would not be in business long if they only did what makes customers happy.
Janice Moyer
But above it says they accept store coupons??
Charlene
Only accept store coupons that list a specific price not an amount off
MELISSA
I just started price matching and have run into a few bumps already. I just read and printed out the wal-mart policy on coupons and ads. Yes you can use another stores coupons and their reward cards such as Kroger and tom thumb. And yes their policy is to match any local ad! DON’T BE AFRAID TO CALL CORP. OFFICE. The stores hate that. I will be taking my printout with me from now on! It saves me money. Some of the cashiers and floor managers don’t have a problem. Unless you are holding up the line lol. They will do it to get you out of there. The store I go to is in fort worth Texas off Vickory. I have had to argue and call the manager. But yes I get tired of arguing.
Kathy Braun
The policy specifically states “local”. “Competitor” means there’s a possibility you will drive to that store to get a better price. Are you really gonna drive 50 miles, to save a few bucks?
Further, if you bring in a current receipt, that will be honored to let you pay that price.
Kathy Braun
Would anyone be surprised to know some employees of Wal-Mart do not follow policies? A store that tells you in an ad, “Like getting the item for $.99” has that policy, that ad, to disallow you going to another store to get that price. They know the policy/policies of their competitors.
Debra Fulton
I understand that Walmart has their policies to go by but I also know that if you go to the store without an ad “like the commercial” states, it is up to the store to either have the ad or just allow you to get the item for that price. It is not up to the customer to bring the ad with them. If Walmart doesn’t have the weekly ad for a local store, the customer shouldn’t be penalizes for it. Just let the customer get the item for that price.
B.Taylor
I went to Walmart last night, they sent another person to “deal with me”, as it was put. They did not honer any of the ad match pricing. I was talked down to and told I need to learn the rules of the store. I was so upset, I went into a panic attack. I felt as if I was being harassed. I can not believe that they came up with this ad match idea and downgrade or get mad when a customer is trying to shop. I actually had one lady tell me this is nothing but f****** aggravation! i was so thankful that my husband was there. My daughter heard her say it and my husband was being polite and told her not to take it out on us. I would really like to speak to Corporate. Im sure Id be wasting my time. I have a panic issues every time I’m in that store.
CJ
I’ve had pretty good luck price matching at walmart & I find it so convenient to get the best price at one place, although admittedly sometimes the quality is a trade-off. I price match produce mostly but sometimes other random things. (shop at N.Tarrant/Beach in FW, TX). I try to make sure I’m armed with information just in case. I used yahoo maps to get the distance to the stores I typically price match to & keep that information on my phone in case they question it. I also always print out any ads I’m trying to match. I’ve only had a request to see something in an ad one time but I think the fact that they see I have my printed ads in hand at the register makes them less likely to question it. I’ve (I put a sticky note on top where I’ve written my price match items & the store I’m matching so I don’t have to look through the ads unless they ask for it.) This might sound silly but I also try to avoid cashiers that seem crabby. I’m ok waiting in a longer line for a cashier that looks friendlier (smiling, chatting with customers as they check out, etc) to avoid the hassle & bad attitude of the wrong cashier. I keep all of my price match items together at the end so I can be up at the counter, ready to say something like “I’m price matching after the bread” and be ready to read off my prices.
My only complaint is that this particular walmart won’t price match store brands to the walmart brand. I miss out on all the good meat, milk, eggs matches. In searching online I’m having trouble finding out whether that is a decision each store can make or part of their corporate policy. They will only price match a national brand…like pilgrim’s pride chicken breasts or borden milk if it was an advertised sale for a local competitor. I have had them tell me if I don’t have the ad & they question it they would need to have the ad on hand at the store, so I prefer to just bring the ads with me. I can understand the need to verify the price rather than taking everyone’s word on any price they come up with but I think their policy should’ve just they must be able to verify it with your ad or their in-store copy rather than saying you don’t need the ad. Of course it’s going to make customers upset when it’s not as easy as the commercials lead you to believe.
clif
CJ and others,
What are other ways to identify which cashiers are going to be more agreeable and accepting to price matching and not be so disagreeable, unpleasant, and rejecting?
You said:

I ALWAYS find male cashiers to be way more friendly than the ladies. If there are no male cashiers, I look for a young female- the younger the better! Older women tend to be the ones who act like you are taking money out of their pocket and want to fight you for every penny. If you tend to shop at the same location, learn which cashiers are best (may take a bit of trial and error). Obviously, avoid the cashiers you’ve had issues with in the past. Choosing the right cashier with a good attitude has a lot to do with having a positive experience.
Betty Williams
The thing is, is you are taking money out of their pockets. Depending on the validity of said ad match… when the stores loses money due to an incorrectly handled ad match or fake ones as some people do, the loss is taken directly out of the hourly workers quarterly bonus. Many times we don’t even get a bonus because the loss is so great. It’s incredibly bad with meat ad matches because often times it’s the incorrect brand used and we lose a large chunk of profit. Upper management and corporate won’t lose anything, just hourly workers.
This is also why you’re more likely to get your way easier with upper management because they aren’t losing any money. Some of the older cashiers and workers tend to be grouchier because they’ve been dealing with this loss for quite some time and their ready for it to end.
There is nothing wrong with ad matching and couponing, but it would help if you would realize why we aren’t always super excited to handle it.
We really would like to be smiles all the time and do wish for each customer to have a great experience, really. It’s just not always easy to put on our fake smiles when we know our wallets are being emptied.
Maggie
I call and get we match Target,Walgreens and Kmart. Our town has 1 grocery store and its private owned…DOES anyone know what major chain stores? Is there a list somewhere? I get different managers and differens csm’s and no results.
Pat
Calling up before you go to the store sounds like a good way to price match before making the trip up there to find out they won’t match the competition. Sometimes price matching can be difficult, so I think that’s an excellent idea if you can get the csm’s name so that they can vouch for you when you show up. As far as a list of major chain stores you should be able to look up a list by googling “biggest chain stores” around the area you live in.
Bliss
Walmart price match is not worth it if they won’t stack coupons. I have problems with basic coupon terminology with my local Walmart. Very frustrating and often not worth the hassle!
Donna
Yestesrday I went to a Walmart near my house to do a price match. The Microsoft store was selling a Dell Pro Venue 8 Tablet for $99. When that was gone they were selling for $199 while supplies last. I see many other Walmarts price-matched this via other people on a forum posting their receipts (and large number of tablets they bought in some cases). I walked in wanting just 2 units for gifts. I brought with me Walmart’s Matching policy to make sure I was not going against it (I wasn’t).
There were about 6-8 units there. After being passed around to 4 different employees and being told no, the Store manager finally broke down at gave me for $199. I did not buy 2 because I was expecting the $99 value to be matched and honored. There are 2 Microsoft stores in the area..one about 20 minutes away from that store.
His ‘logic’ was that the MS store must be sold out by now…which is ridiculous. He would not know that. In addition, the add said the first 20 at $99 and then $199 afterwards. Well, I saw 8 units there….so if he did not sell any that day I should have qualified for those 8 units of the 20 if I wanted them. I wanted 2. I should add it was a snowy day here so that is why I did not move around more. This Walmart is very close to my house.
I need to get this elevated. I don’t want a giftcard. I want the $100 credit on my visa card and the abilty to buy a second unit for $99. That is what the price matching was supposed to be.
While I am somewhat happy I did get a discount, I don’t feel they honored their price match policy—especially when I see other Walmarts (even somewhat near) did..even on multiple units.
I then called the Corporate office today to be told that ‘well it’s up to the discretion of the store manager to honor it or not”. It was black and white. It was a physical; you could go to the store or online;
It was such a good deal that WALMART decided NOT to match it..which is wrong. You either offer it and stand by it (Especially when I proved many other stores are doing so).
Secondly..as a business owner, WALMART is scamming people with those prepaid debit cards. I own a business out of the country and 2 ladies came and spent money at the hotel/restaurant. They had put $800 on their prepaid debit visa card. We got our funds. However when they went online to check their statement WALMART ON OUR BEHALF AUTHORIZED THE SAME SAID AMOUNTS and froze their spending. In other words, they authorized it our BEHALF . They (walmart) held the money on our behalf. We did not authorize this hold. When they called the WAlmart customer service they kept being told that we authroized it. I had proof from our bank this not to be the case. It was not until I went online myself to read Walmart policy “what happens when you use the card at a hotel; what happens when you rent a car, etc”…
It does state there that additional funds are held 7-10 days as pending and then released. But really what traveler realizes that…They were stranded in a foreign country with no money..and it looking like MY FAULT to top it off.
I doubt very much either of my concerns will be handled properly.
Jessica
Wal-Mart money card isn’t owned by Wal-Mart. I found that it the hard way. It’s owned by green dot. Way different company.
dawn
Does walmart only price match adds only that are on sale for that week? Or are they suppose to honor everyday pricing of other stores?
Barbara Avila
I’m a beginner on this coupon and match up thing. I’m wondering if there a list of stores that walmart don’t match prices with. Stores like Family dollar or General dollar or big lots
Nicole
They honor all
Rachel
I worked as a Walmart cashier for 5 summers, and you can definitely save a lot of money by price matching! Here’s an article I wrote with my own tips: http://www.ordinaryhomemaker.com/walmart-price-matching-easier-than-couponing-2/
– Rachel at OrdinaryHomemaker.com

I work for walmart and i to add match i make sure I’m using ads in the same city where I’ve shopping at..exact brand, oz, etc.only thing that bugs me behind that register honoring ad matches are when i know im being lied to.
kayla
Does walmart also honor buy one get one 50% off sales?
Toccara
Dollar General ran an ad that stated any size any count Pampers Swaddlers diapers were being sold at $9.50. So I take the printed ad to Walmart and get to the register and they state that that doesn’t not apply to the diapers in the box due to it was a misprint of Dollar generals ad. Then after I argue with them and speak with a Dollar general Manager that stated there was no misprint they changed their story stating that it doesn’t follow walmart policy of specific product and doesn’t Specify quantity nor size. I stated yes it does it states any size and count. I called corporate and they stated the same thing. I’m furious because I have purchased items before that stated all or any and there was never a problem. I’m looking to take further action against them for not honoring what they have established.
emma
Yes, that was a misprint. Dollar General put up signs in their stores about a correction in the sale ad. If something looks too good to believe, it usually is. Did anyone think the could get $30 of diapers for $9.50? Walmart wouldn’t fall for this scam.
Deborah
They did not honor the ad today when I went to get fruit and veggies. the ad had NO limit on how many pounds yet Walmart and their corporate office stood by the limit of only 4 lbs. The price match is starting to be more and more of a scam to get you into the store, after they refuse to honor the ad and you spent a lot of time doing all your shopping you just end up paying for your stuff and leave feeling ripped off.
Lucas Brian
I absolutely agree that coupons save a lot of money. I always check http://www.jamboroo.co/ before heading to super market or any place for shopping. I always get discount and sometime got cash back too.
Nitzia
Do you guys know how many miles needs to be a store from walmart to price match???
Rachel
Walmart has a new app for your phone that makes price matching even easier! Check out this post for more info: http://www.ordinaryhomemaker.com/walmarts-savings-catcher/
Jessica
I have a question that I cannot seem to figure out, I can call customer service but I thought I would try this first. If a store has a sale on say a case of water for $X amount and their ad specifies “limit 1” and I go to Walmart to price match the case of water, can I get more than 1 for the sale price? Or am I only allowed 1?
Chrissa Bush
I know walmart has to match lowest price but do they have to or how can you get them to match like cvs shampoo 2 at said price but after coupon a cheaper price. Are they to match the after coupon price of how can u ger them to do so?
stacy
Corporate will not allow ‘final’ price or after coupon prices matches. There is no way to ‘get them to do this’ . They are following policy by telling you no they will however glady accept the top price the sale price and that is all. I was at my walmart days ago with my price match items and the one woman infront of me tried this after the cashier, 2 csms, and an assistant manger told her no she called corperate(at the register told the cashier to shut her life off and she would not be leaving until she got a yes) by the time I got checked out at another register she was screaming to the poor person on the phone that ‘this was bullshit and she would not be shopping there anymore’. If they say no that means they are following policy and CAN NOT do it. Its horrible that someone would be so rude. They will not give you items for free this women acted like it was OWED to her.

So if Publix has $1.00 off the purchase of Item X Wal-Mart will accept it?

I’m a cashier at Walmart and I have no problem with ad matching or taking coupons from customers. I do however have a problem with customers who are rude about their price matching. Of course after speaking to a customer who in return doesn’t speak back, I’m not in the most cheerful mood after. But with the price matching you have to let the cashier know before hand what your comp prices are not after we’ve scanned everything. Now, we’re forced to go back and play the void game. The thing with coupons that grinds my gears is that you have people who take the coupons to the extreme. What most customers don’t do is actually pay attention to the coupon. Most coupons will tell you that you CANNOT double or triple your coupons or it will let you know that only FOUR coupons can be used within one transaction for that product. So when people come up with 10 coupons on top of the price matches for the same thing Yes, I will be that cashier who will as politely as I can tell you that you cannot exceed over four coupons for that product. I’m not being biased as I have been on the other side of the counter with a rather rude cashier myself. It works on both parts. We as cashiers are people too!

Our grocery has an ad this week that features wine at $1.59 a bottle after mail in rebate. Will WalMart price match the ad since it specifies the price without me having to go and do a MIR?
Sue
No, Walmart isn’t going to honor a $1.59 wine price with a MIR.

Can u comp an item an still use the coupon for it in the same transaction?

I went to Walmart with my father-in-law today and did a little price match shopping. When I got to the register the cashier told me there were limits on the amount of apples I could buy as it was store policy to only price match for 4 lbs of apple (I had 7 lbs) I looked at the ad that I was matching and it had no limits but the cashier removed some of my apples from the bag until it was close to the 4 lbs they said I was allowed to get. I called the corporate number when I left the store and they got the store manager on the phone who told me it was store policy so no one would buy all they have of an item (there were plenty of apples there for everyone to buy). That is not my concern when doing price match, I followed the guidelines and rules for the price match yet the store did not honor the ad when they limited my purchase. The store that did this to me was the one at 1100 N Estrella Parkway in Goodyear, AZ. I feel that if Walmart CLAIMS to honor the other stores ads for price match then they should honor the ad FULLY and not put limits when the ad does not have limits to how many you can buy. I am very disappointed in my shopping trip today and feel it might be better to drive to each store to get the ad prices and just bypass ever shopping at Walmart again. Price match is intended to get you into the store so you can buy things other than price matching, when they refuse to fully honor the ad then it seems to be just a scam.

So my history with Walmart comping is at a halt. After I looked and acted a fool. Rouses has an ad 10 pounds chicken legs for .29 a pound. Walmart wouldn’t comp that. They have always comped those as long as you get the chicken that isn’t organic. They wouldn’t comp the ground chuck because the other store ad said lean ground chuck. Excuse me stupid walmart… The government regulates the fat content in hamburger. Not you! I did ask if Walmart sold fattier ground chuck. They need to stop saying they price match. It’s a lie. The price catcher? That is a joke. I love/hate Walmart. I hate liars n that is what they have become. I’m sick of acting an ass because I get so upset knowing I’m right. I think it’s time a lawyer is involved and just end the price match all together. I’m sorry but I am beyond frustrated!
