We’ll be married 20 years this year, and each year, I make a special surprise Valentine’s Menu. I hand print it on nice paper (although lately it has been on construction paper due to my daughter having it handy). I take a few weeks to start prepping, looking through my cookbooks, making lists and then gradually buying any extra food we need over time. I present the special menu the night of Valentine’s, when my husband gets home from work. We have our special meal, dessert included, and just enjoy having a bit of a splurge together. We’ve done it all these years and it is so special, we love it and look forward to it each year. It’s like a pre-anniversary celebration each year.

We are not gonna do anything big on Valentines day this year. We will probably spend the weekend together beforehand.

My husband and I get my mom to watch our kids on Valentine’s day night. We always get takeout and spend a quiet night at home. It’s cheaper and we get to spend some quiet, quality time at home.
