We always celebrate VD by making a fun dinner at home. One person makes the meal and the other dessert and the next year we switch. Also – no flowers!

my valentine tip is to go out for ice cream or something like that instead of a huge meal.

My advice is to get a nice hotel room on the beach with some champagne waiting in the room

I love your site and I normally like my celebration at home. Maybe getting some flowers (daisies) would be nice.

Most years we end up with cold and snowy weather on Valentine’s Day so hot cocoa and snuggling by the fire are a great way to spend the evening.

We make a meal at home and possibly rent a movie. And homemade gifts from the kids are always great!

I think the best way to celebrate VD is by doing it at home. Think of the money you will save by cooking your own dinner, and there will be NO lines. You could also pop some pop corn, and rent a movie through RedBox, or Netflix. Nothing better than a quiet night at home with your sweetheart.

We make Valentines Day special by me making a special dinner with all the kids, special dessert, and special game night family time. It’s a lot better than spending so much money on eating out, a baby sitter, and everyone can participate. It’s about our love as a family!

We do thrifty Valentine’s Days by have a date night at home. We make something fancy like king crab or steak (which would be overly expensive at most restaurants) and light candles and then usually watch a romantic movie. It’s our dinner and a movie at home and with 4 kids this is definitely a special and important thing to do, not just on Valentine’s Day but anniversaries and special occasions.
Jennielle
I make my husband a handmade Valentine’s Day card. It may seem silly, but I feel it is more heartfelt then a Hallmark card and it’s nearly free. Sometimes those are the best gifts.
