We don’t exchange gifts, do flowers or chocolates or anything like that. Valentine’s day for us is spending time together and with our kids. So to save money I guess we don’t do anything special. We express our love everyday so don’t feel the need to do something special on that day.

For a thrifty Valentine we usually cook a special dinner at home and watch a movie (from the library or Redbox).

Money saving tip: I buy items on the day-after Valentine’s from the previous year (cards, stuffed animals, clothing, etc.) that can be used for gifts the next year. Just add fresh candy! ๐ (My first entry)

We make dinner as a family for valentines day. Every where is so busy that we don’t enjoy ourselves if we go out.

My husband and I exchange back and foot massages instead of gifts! It saves quite a bit of money. We also make steaks and lobster at home and have a candle lit dinner instead of going out. This year we have a baby- so I’m not sure what we’ll do. ๐
