We actually have a big family valentine party. We have dinner at my in-laws and then the cousins all exchange valentines. The adults all exchange a family treat. Can be cookies, a decoration, candy. Something simple but enough for each person in the family to have a little. The little kids also either play a game or make a craft together.

This year we are making our own valentine’s cards. I have lots of construction paper from other projects. I have also make chocolate dipped fruit for my husband. Depending on the type of fruit you purchase, this is way cheaper than buying it. And it’s fun to do with the kids. Beware of the mess!!

We don’t really do anything special for Valentines. The kids and I might make rice krispy treats or homemade marshmallows and cut them in cute shapes, and I buy the cards for their school parties the year before after they are all marked down (at least by half).

For my first entry, we keep it simple on Valentine’s day. A big family dinner so we can share the love with our three kids. And I keep a Valentine’s bin filled with the accumulation of Valentine’s stuffies and keepable gifts so we can put them back into the rotation every year and the kids gift bags just get bigger and bigger, without spending more money!
