Now that it is February 3rd and we are heading into the weekend, many of you may be preparing your taxes now that you received all of your final tax information in the mail this past week. We wanted to share with you some different tax options that are FREE for you to use! Turbo Tax is offering FREE tax preparation, printing and e-filing HERE.
We wanted to let you know about this one as it is FREE simple Federal Tax filing. But, we have also used them ourselves to prepare both our Federal and State taxes as we personally love how easy the site is to use, how they walk us through every step and so even a more complicated filing (such as a home business) is much easier. Plus their rates for preparing taxes beyond the FREE federal simple version is very reasonable – so you can get a FREEBIE on your simple Federal return and some decent rates for the rest. We will plan to use them again this year as well as it is a super slick process. In the past, they have also had options for your return that allows you to get paid sooner or even additional incentives.
Turbo Tax is not only offering the FREE Federal Tax preparation, printing and e-filings – but they guarantee that they can find you the maximum return you are able to get. Plus they offer FREE Tax advice to be able to talk to someone that can answer your questions – this is a nice feature and included for FREE!
We recommend quickly registering and then you can go back in whenever you want and import your tax information as you receive it. We usually will start our previous year’s return and just pop on real quick to add 1099 information and more as we receive it as all of the previous information is saved and then before we know it – IT’S DONE!
Registration is secure through this link HERE and it takes less than 2 minutes to create your account.
Please note, the FREE option can change at any time!

If you use Turbo Tax “free” edition, you still have to pay for state. However, they have an unadvertised “freedom” edition where you can get both federal and state free if you meet certain low income requirements.

I use turbo tax and just skip the state part and go to my state’s free filing site and file there for free. Yeah you have to put everything in again but I just copy off the turbo tax copy and hey it’s free. Don’t know if other states have this option but Illinois does.
