If you like the idea of homemade non-toxic scented Watercolor paint with Kool-Aid,
then please consider sharing this on Facebook and pinning to Pinterest!
This week’s Thrifty Kids Thursday is about all Kool-Aid! Yes, we buy Kool-Aid, not to drink – but rather to play!
There are so many fun things you can do with Kool-Aid and we will be sharing more and more as it is a fun summertime play treat! Plus, you can get them for so cheap when they go on sale (real Kool-Aid or generic) which makes this a thrifty way to add some extra oomph to many activities!
To give you context on this Thrifty Kids Thursday – it has been “Fruit of the Spirit” week in our homeschool Bible lessons and activities. With that being said, we have been doing some sort of activity related to this daily. And as the favorite activity of the week was scented water color painting we thought it would be fun to share with all of you!
All you need to do is either have one or many flavors/colors and put a bit of the powder in a small bowl. Then add 1-3 tablespoons of water depending on how dark you want the color. The individual packets of powder will usually last us for around 4-5 water color sessions as I just use a small amount of the powder from each packet.
Then start painting and have fun!
Here’s the fun parts about this type of painting:
- It is non-toxic and safe water color paints
- It smells super good
- It tastes extremely sour (without the sugar) so they will only be encouraged to sniff and not drink 🙂
- It does stain, just as Kool-Aid would, so be aware and adjust as needed for your kids
- You can make any sort of activity out of this – learning colors, fruits, smells, sooo many things!
- It is CHEAP!
Also, if you specifically wanted to also make a “Fruits of the Spirit Scented Basket,” we found the FREE printable download at ChristianPreschoolPrintables.com HERE. Instead of coloring them, we just painted them!
As we are engaging a few senses – it also helps our kids to remember the Fruits of the Spirit a little better as well! 🙂
