Supermarkets across the country have been rated and evaluated by gauging responses from over 24,000 people on 4 main issues: service, perishables food quality, price and cleanliness. All scores are out of 100 (with 100 being the highest). Interestingly enough,Wegman’s was the top supermarket in the nation, receiving a score of 88!
So we will show you the worst grocery stores starting with bad and ending with the worst! You can click on over to the FiscalTimes for the full article as to why these received the scores they did!

2. Walmart Supercenter (69 out of 100)
AND #1 WORST. Pathmark (68 out of 100)
Well, the only one that affects us is Walmart Supercenter, but I probably would have rated it about the same anyway and try to not shop there if I can avoid it! Even with their new produce guarantee policy, I still have been very disappointed in their produce and tried it again after that new policy came out and decided that it still wasn’t any better. The produce still did not last very long and it is a pain to get money back, primarily because it is one extra thing on my “to-do” list!
So the stores I shop at the most are Kroger (Smiths in our area), Costco and Trader Joes and they must all be ranked higher!
What about your store, was it on the list and would you agree with the assessment?

Totally agree with the Walmart ranking. Their produce is terrible but unfortunately Piggly Wiggly’s isn’t much better where we are at. I only buy Walmart produce if I know I’m going to use it within 2 days (and that’s pushing it!)—I am so tired of buying produce from there that is basically being sold at its expiration date.

I bet #3 is Kroger!! With all their new “so called” lower prices! I did matchups and have physical pictures that their new low prices actually went up!

Surprised Walmart isn’t #1. I never buy anything from their meat or produce departments. The produce is rotten and the meat packages are always leaking. It’s like they just don’t care. I like to buy other staples there since it’s cheap even without coupons.

I shop at Publix..love this store..it’s the best in the south. I agree with LB about walmart 100%
Ada Coupons
I knew Weis had made the list. The one we have in our town sucks! Every week I return some food which somehow goes bad between the 7 min ride from the store….just to make a point. But they don’t care.

Meijer’s (in our Indiana area) always has beautiful, fresh and organic choices for produce. Always fresh meat too. If we collect & hold coupons until the items go on sale (they rotate on sale abt. every 3 mos), we can get some really good deals! Almost all of the time they are LESS than Wal-Mart, which is right across the street, so we can compare easily! Also: If we request they stock specific organic or other items, they will usually do this for us. Their return policy is extremely friendly, no questions asked. They no longer DOUBLE your coupons, but you can still stack coupons or use a coupon when an item is on sale. Clothing, shoes & purse clearance sales there have been good too – brand new for less than Good Will! My daughter just came home with a nice new top for $1.00. Tip: Buy swim trunks for growing boys a year ahead on clearance. Just make sure they’re a larger size.
