It’s summer time and along with summer come great activities, great memories and lots of free time.
I find that when my kids just have nothing but free time on their hands, they are bored, irritable, crazy and just need some clear, yet summer fun, direction.
That’s why I wanted to create some printables that would make your summer for your kids memorable and fun, while helping them formulate a plan and document their memories (I love reading their stories and memories, one of my favorite parts of motherhood). I can also stick these printables into a scrapbook and have them to share with my children for years to come.
As a mom, there are 4 main categories of summer fun:
- The READING! This is such an amazing opportunity and time for your children to develop a love of reading and a love of learning through books. We make more visits to the library in the summer than we do during the school year because it makes way for both non-fiction and fiction in a relaxed and fun way. That’s why the Summer Reading List printable is one of my favorites. Plus, I get to keep this list for years to come. I have a couple of kids that fill this list a few times during the summer months.
- The ACTIVITIES. Of course summer is about getting out and having fun! I created the summer bucket list (allowing my kids to fill-in reasonable options) and we can try and do one or more a week. We’ve had fun with this each and every summer! I don’t want my kids veggin’ on the couch with a screen of any kind in their faces to be the focal point of summer. I want them to be active, play, explore and be creative. This can be things like “build a go cart from boxes” or “create an obstacle course,” etc. Whatever goes as long as it is reasonable – you know not like “explore all of Europe” kind of things. 😉
- The TRAVELS. Whether it is a small day trip or an extended vacation, most all of us will have family travels over the summer. I want to hear from my children and each one of them individually. I want to hear what they loved, what they remember, what they didn’t like, I want to know and know what makes their travels a joy! I want these memories and I want them to have them to remember those family vacations from their perspective. That’s why I have the travels memory pages! I will print off as many as I need for each of the summer trips.
- The MEMORIES. Finally, the summer events, activities, holidays, gatherings, etc. all add up to one great summer. I wanted a place for my kids to document their general summer memories and activities in one place. That’s why created the “The things I did this summer” printable!
You can print all or some or several copies of one of the printables that you would like. They are all downloadable and free!
