If you have loved ones living in another state, we some great handmade gift ideas for DIY state miss you gifts.
These are so awesome! If you want to have a super sweet gift to share with those you love and you live states or countries apart, this DIY sign idea would be so super sweet and such a unique idea, along with one that would be good for someone that is even hard to get gifts for.
The sign says: “Together forever, never apart. Maybe in distance, but never in heart.” And then the states/countries are connected by dashed lines. Just so creative and adorable.
DIY state miss you gifts
We have seen this idea and shared it on coffee mugs with the special Sharpies (so that it actually works), but that same idea is now being adopted to these beautiful signs!
The ideas for making these come from my friend Danielle (my childhood friend actually – her sister is my best friend and she’s the same age as my brother) and so she makes these and sells them as well.
Here’s the supplies:
- 14 x 11 framed board
- Stain
- Vinyl quotes
- Fiberboard state and country shapes
- Paint for the shapes
- Sharpies for the lines
My friend makes these and cuts her own vinyl and her husband cuts out the states and/or countries on his scroll saw. I love this DIY idea and she’s made a little family business out of it. She sells these signs for $25-$30 (depending on size as she sells two sizes). She can make a customized one in 3 days.

We are sharing the DIY idea, but in the end, I don’t think it will be possible for you to DIY these yourself for under $30, especially when you count the vinyl and tools to cut the states/countries. You can also customize these with any states/countries, colors, variations on quote or your own quote.
