Yesterday I mentioned how we were looking for some quick and filling snack and meal ideas for the super busy school days we’ve been having over here at our home! It’s really quite crazy in fact. It amazes both of us just how fast the schedule fills up with field trips, projects, schoolwork, adventures in learning and exploring…not to mention that the weather has still been nice enough that we just want to get out and play when we are all done!
These little kiddos of ours sure build up an appetite quick too. I found these Tyson® Any’tizer snacks at Walmart and they were quite affordable and they have a number of delicious varieties. They picked out The Tyson® Homestyle Chicken Fries and the Tyson® Popcorn Chicken to try on those exceptionally busy or exceptionally hungry days!
Well, those days arrived quickly…just as suspected! After a long day of school time, these little kiddos were super hungry and wanting a snack and wanted it yesterday. I asked if they wanted chicken. They looked at each other like “really,” chicken for a snack?!?
Remember how I mentioned that they Chicken Fries contained 9 servings per $6.98 bag? Each serving is 7 chicken fries. This is a nice sized serving and it is only .78 each serving! I chose for the microwave option because they were very hungry – 1 minute later…. they were enjoying their protein filled snack and they didn’t even ask for more and they played and were satisfied until dinner! That’s a winner with all-white meat, protein-packed and simple preparation for after school time fuel!
On field trip day, we needed a fast lunch that was hearty, protein packed and filling. So I opted to serve the popcorn chicken. All we needed was to pop the popcorn chicken in a 400 degree oven……
for 15 minutes! Then we had nice crunchy popcorn chicken.
I call it a super easy and super simple lunch. I filled in the space with a dairy – cottage cheese, veggie – carrot, fruit – peach! A well-rounded super simple lunch.
And off these two went full, satisfied and content. They had an energetic afternoon instead of the typical crankies. 🙂
And…as you can see, my 4-year old is pretty much a goof in every picture. This boy brings us so much joy and adds so much love in our home, but we cannot get him to take a normal picture. My 6 year old, she’s a camera posing pro! I just love these two and I am so glad that we found some easy protein filled solutions for them because Tyson® asked us to share our experience.
Have you tried any of their chicken products? We recently started buying the grilled chicken strips for my husband and me to throw on the George Foreman grill and have a super light, but get provide great protein lunch option. We put it on salads, in wheat tortilla shells for chicken tacos, on homemade buffalo pizza and more. It’s been very easy and an easy solution too.
