smiths shopping trip results september 21, 2010

We went  a few places this week to go shopping: Smiths (our local Kroger affiliate), Walmart and Rite Aid (for diapers of course!) and we still hope to hit Target this week. It has been quite a busy deal week for us.  Since we didn’t go out shopping last week, it seems like we always end up following the next week up with a whirlwind shopping week!

The kids and myself spent some time earlier this week doing some major coupon clean-out/organization (this is needed about every 4 months or so!). We discovered a bunch of coupons that we had cut and tore out of magazines that were going to expire on 9/30 and so we ended up using quite a bit of those, especially on this shopping trip.

But we love it (most of the time) and so it was fun!

First was Smiths and here’s what we bought:

  • 8 boxes of Cheerios sale for $1.49 each when you buy in groups of 4 = $11.92. Then used 5 .55/1 printable and one $1.00/3 from 9/12 General Mills Insert – $3.75 = final is $8.17 for 8 boxes or $1.02 each. (they are on sale again this week at most of the Kroger stores for the same price!)
  • 4 Boxes of Oatmeal at $1.67 each = $6.68. Then used 4 $1.00/1 9/12 Red Plum Insert = final is $2.68 for 4 or .67 each
  • 1 Kroger plain oatmeal on markdown for .79 = final is .79
  • 5 Smart Taste Ronzoni Pasta sale for $1.25 each = $6.25.  Then used $1.00/1 from Family Fun magazine and two $1.00/2 printables – $3.00 = final is $3.25 for 5 or .65 each.
  • 3 Herdez Salsa sale for $1.99 each $5.97. Then used 3 .55/1 9/12 Smart Source Insert – $1.65 = final is $4.32 for 3 or $1.44 each.
  • 2 Kroger cottage cheese 24 oz. sale for $1.88 each = final is $3.76 for two or $1.88 each
  • 3 Dannon Activia 4 packs sale for $1.88 each$5.64. Then used four $1.00/1 8/8 or 9/12 Smart Source Insert – $4.00 = final is $2.64 for 3 or .88 each
  • 3 Danimals Smoothies 6 packs sale for $1.88 each = $5.64.  Then used four $1.00/1 8/15 or 9/12 Smart Source Insert – $4.00 = final is $2.64 for 3 or .88 each
  • 2 Snikiddy Snacks for $2.89 each = $5.78. Then used FREE coupons = final is FREE
  • 4 Healthy Choice meals for $1.88 each = $7.52. Then used two $1.00/1 and one $1.00/2 (form WW magazine) – $3.00 = final is $4.52 for 4 or $1.13 each.
  • 1 Fast Fixin’s Dino shaped nuggets sale for $4.99. Then used $1.00/1 from All You magazine = final is $3.99
  • 1 2 lb. block Cache Valley cheese for $8.99. Then used FREE coupon from recent Parents magazine (I was sooo excited to see this coupon!!) = final is FREE

Smiths Summary: The total BEFORE coupons and sale prices was $124.82. We then saved $50.89 with in-store sale so our total became $73.93. We then used $39.17 in coupons = final total of $34.76. This represents a savings of 72%.

We will share our other trips a little later.

Thanks for the tip about the cheese coupon on the parents magazine. They let me use it at Macey’s on a 2lb block after asking the manager (because it dosen’t have a price limit printed on it.) Saved me $7.00. Awesome!

Which issue of Parents magazine had that coupon? I don’t remember seeing one for cheese, but I just started my subscription this summer.
